With the drop of an all-new gameplay reveal trailer during the May PlayStation Showcase, we’ve finally received an in-depth look at the characters, combat system, and story in Spider-Man 2. Set to arrive in the Fall of this year, the second installment to Marvel’s Spider-Man series features opportunities to play as both Miles Morales and Peter Parker. However, it appears that Peter’s Spidey Suit has received a sleek black upgrade, begging the question: Is Venom in Spider-Man 2?
Peter Parker will finally don the Symbiote Suit in Spider-Man 2, which seems to confirm the arrival of the long-awaited character, Venom. Although, we do have an even greater reason to believe the morally gray alien will take on a key role in the PlayStation exclusive title. Here’s what we know.
Will Venom Be in Spider-Man 2?
Franchise fans, rejoice. Venom will make his long-awaited arrival in Spider-Man 2, lending Peter Parker the powers of the Symbiote Suit. We got nearly 11 minutes worth of gameplay in an all-new reveal trailer for the new title, showcasing Peter Parker’s newfound suit and powers. Those who are familiar with Venom know this essentially confirms his role in the new installment to Marvel’s Spider-Man series.
However, this isn’t exactly breaking news. Venom’s comeback has been teased for quite a while, most notably back in 2021 when PlayStation dropped a previous showcase. In the original reveal trailer, both Spider-Men take out enemies in a dark alleyway, only to be confronted by someone (or something) much more powerful lurking in the shadows. At the trailer’s end, Venom is revealed in the best way possible, confirming his arrival in Spider-Man 2.
Is Venom the Evil Spider-Man?
While Venom is, indeed, most widely recognized as the evil version of Spider-Man, the symbiote can also be regarded as somewhat of an antihero, depending on which depiction of the character we’re referencing. Regardless, Venom is a fan-favorite villain in Marvel’s Spider-Man, and is, perhaps, one of the most well-known archenemies in the franchise.
We can’t be sure exactly what flavor of Venom will arrive with Spider-Man 2, but it goes without saying that the iconic character remains one of the biggest draws to the new entry. With that, we’ll be seeing a lot more of the symbiote and his effect on Peter Parker when Spider-Man 2 launches in the Fall of this year.
