Will you be able to play Skull and Bones with friends? Will Skull and Bones have multiplayer?

Skull and Boes is an upcoming pirate-themed game from Ubisoft. Climb the ladder of infamy and become the most powerful pirate kingpin. You can do so by sailing the seas, plundering coastal towns, fighting dangerous sea monsters, all in the quest to amass loot, fame and fortune. Due to awesome visuals, Skull and Bones will be available on PC and current-gen consoles only. But, will you be able to enjoy your pirate adventure with friends? Can you bring some mateys along, will Skull and Bones be multiplayer? Read on and find out.

Will Skull and Bones Have Multiplayer?

Yes, the official description of the game is “Skull and Bones is an open-world naval combat multiplayer game…” Moreover, the devs mention that teaming up is recommended if you plan to take on the toughest monsters or plunder forts. You probably can’t solo through everything. But is multiplayer co-op only or can you fight other players?

An Open Beta just ended, and thousands of players teamed up to take down forts and hunt notorious pirates. That proved that Multiplayer is almost a crucial part of Skull and Bones.

Skull and Bones – Standard Edition, Xbox Series X
  • Engage in thrilling naval battles and equip a multitude of powerful weapons as you risk it all for the biggest loot.
  • Sail the lawless seas solo, or team up with two friends or other players to partake in shareable contracts and rewards.
  • Face cutthroat pirate hunters, deadly sea monsters, unpredictable weather, dangerous rogue waves, supernatural threats, and more as you explore a vast open world.
  • Craft and sail up to 10 different ships at launch, each with unique perks to match your own personal playstyle.
  • Grow your infamy and unlock resources and opportunities to get riskier contracts and upgrade your equipment.

Is Skull and Bones Co-Op or PvP?

The short answer is – both. You can team up with your friends to go on adventures together. As stated earlier, some things are too hard to do on your own. If you team up with friends you stand a better chance to plunder a fort, for example, which is loaded with treasure and weapons. Not to mention the infamy you will get from doing such a deed.

On the other hand, you are not alone in the world. You will come across other players going about their business. The meeting can be friendly or they can turn sour. Moreover, you and your friends can be pitted against other pirate gangs in the search for the same treasure. Blowing them to bits is one of the ways to secure your victory. Maybe you would like to rise to power by plundering other players’ ships, especially if they are carrying valuable cargo. But be warned, if you can do that to someone else, other players can see you as a target in turn.

Disputed Waters

Earlier, Ubisoft has revealed Disputed Waters, a dedicated PvP game mode. They said “…Disputed Waters, Skull & Bones’ dedicated PvP multiplayer mode, which pits you and four other players against a rival pirate gang to fight over riches, sink opponents’ ships, and make off with the treasure before the deadly pirate hunters arrive.” We just have to confirm that Disputed Waters will be a feature in the official release.
