Looking for a guide on how to evolve Charcadet in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet? Look no further. We’ve outlined the process for both its evolved forms, including how to get necessary items and more.
Charcadet is one of many new Pokémon found throughout the Paldea region of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. The spunky Fire-type boasts a unique evolution process with two version exclusive evolutions: Armarouge and Ceruledge. While Pokémon Scarlet players can evolve their Charcadet into the Fire/Psychic-type Armarouge, those playing Pokémon Violet can obtain the Fire/Ghost-type Ceruledge. In any case, you’ll first need to catch Charcadet and obtain its evolution items to get the job done. Here’s how you can complete the process in either game.
How to Evolve Charcadet in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
Charcadet’s evolutions are version exclusives, meaning you’ll need to play Scarlet to obtain Armarouge or Violet to get Ceruledge. Of course, trading is always an option. But let’s focus on evolving the Pokémon in your own game.
To do this, you’ll first need to purchase the necessary items, which differ depending on your version of the game. Scarlet players will need to get the Auspicious Armor item, while those playing Violet will have to snag the Malicious Armor.
Fortunately, both items can be bought from a vendor near a water fountain in Zapapico. In Scarlet, the vendor is a man wearing a pink shirt. In Violet, you’ll instead find a woman wearing a red shirt with a blue jacket. In any case, just look for an orange speech bubble, indicating you can interact with the NPC.
To buy either armor set, you’ll need a specific kind of currency to exchange. For those playing Scarlet, this means handing over 10 Bronzor Fragments, while Violet players will need to give up 10 Sinistea Chips. Here’s a rundown of the process to evolve Charcadet into either Armarouge or Ceruledge.
Evolving Charcadet into Armarouge in Pokémon Scarlet
You can evolve your Charcadet into Armarouge with the Auspicious Armor item in Pokémon Scarlet. Think of the item as something like an evolution stone, which triggers the transformation process when you give it to a Pokémon. Level won’t play a role in the process, either, so don’t worry about gaining enough experience first.
The only caveat here is obtaining the Auspicious Armor, which you can get for the price of 10 Bronzor Fragments from an NPC wearing a pink shirt in Zapapico. You’ll find the vendor near a small water fountain in the center of the city, pictured above. Simply speak with the NPC to make your exchange.
- Only one code for a Hisuian Zoroark can be used in either the Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet game. Upon purchase of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC, an email with your code will be sent to the email address registered to your Nintendo Account. From the in-game menu, go to the Poké Portal, then select Mystery Gift, select Get with Code/Password, and then enter your code.
- The Mystery Gift option can be found within the Poké Portal menu option in the X menu after you unlock the feature in the Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet game. (This occurs after about 1 to 1.5 hours of gameplay, though individual gameplay time may vary.) An internet connection and a Nintendo Account is required to redeem the item in game. A Nintendo Switch Online membership is not required. Each item can only be redeemed once.
How to Get Bronzor Fragments
You’ll get Bronzor Fragments each time you defeat a Bronzor in battle. While these Steel/Psychic-types appear throughout the Paldea region, the best place to farm Bronzor Fragments is in the ruins of the Asado Desert. These ‘mons tend to spawn near the East Province Watchtower. Here, you’ll find loads of these Pokémon to battle. To get your hands on these items as quickly as possible, send out your lead Pokémon to passively battle any Pokémon in the surrounding area.
Evolving Charcadet into Ceruledge in Pokémon Violet
Pokémon Violet players can evolve Charcadet into Ceruledge with the Malicious Armor item. In the same vein as its Scarlet counterpart, the Pokémon reacts to this item as an Eevee would to a Thunder Stone, for example. Unaffected by level, the evolution process will be triggered when you give Charcadet the necessary item.
The Malicious Armor can be obtained from the same vendor in Zapapico. In the center of the city, you’ll find an NPC standing next to a small fountain, pictured in the above image. For the price of 10 Sinistea Chips, you can make an exchange for the evolution item.
How to Get Sinistea Chips
You’ll obtain Sinistea Chips each time you defeat wild Sinistea in battle. The Paldea region is chock-full of Ghost-type Pokémon, but the best place to find Sinistea is just outside Alfornada. Not only is this a great place to farm Sinistea Chips, but it’s also the location of the Psychic-type Gym, led by gym leader Tulip. If you haven’t defeated her just yet, then you may want to catch one of these Ghost-types to kill two birds with one stone.
Where to Find Charcadet in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
Charcadet can be found in various parts of Paldea, as shown in the above map. That said, I had the best luck locating the Fire Child Pokémon in South Province (Area Three). This area is just outside Artazon (West), so you should be able to catch one early on. Other players also report equal luck in West Province (Area One). Set a destination point on your mini-map to help you reach these areas.
The only drawback here is that the Fire-type Pokémon only has about a 10% spawn rate no matter which of its locations you visit. Because of this, you might have to do a bit of searching before you manage to find a Charcadet.
Once you’ve managed to catch one and get what you need to evolve Charcadet, you’ll have your very own Armarouge or Ceruledge. As if Armarouge’s Defense and Special Attack stats aren’t intimating enough, the Pokémon is also equipped with its powerful signature move, Armor Cannon. In contrast, Ceruledge comes in just as hot with high Attack and Special Defense stats. What’s more, Ceruledge’s signature move, Bitter Blade, allows it to regain 50% of the damage inflicted onto its target.
Each Pokémon is a great addition to any team. Be sure to evolve your Charcadet before the Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC drops.
