Confused as to why you can’t play as Havik in Mortal Kombat 1 and looking to find out how to unlock him? The solution is rather simple, so keep reading to find out how.
Mortal Kombat 1 is shipping with over 20 fighters and Kameo characters, including both old familiar faces, DLC characters, and some new ones. For instance, well-known favourites like Scorpion and Raiden are there from the start. However, only one fighter is locked out when you start the game. That is Havik, so naturally, players are looking to find out how to unlock the special character. The game provides no hints, so it remains a bit of a mystery until the resolution later in the game. You’ll be happy to hear that it’s not all too difficult to add Havik to your roster, and this guide will explain how.
How to unlock Havik in your roster in Mortal Kombat 1?
Unlocking Havik isn’t as big of a secret as it may seem at first. To unlock Havik, you have to complete the main Story Mode in Mortal Kombat 1. After finishing the campaign, Havik will be unlocked and available for play in your roster.
The campaign, or Story Mode, in Mortal Kombat 1 can take a while to complete, however. Be prepared to fight your way through 15 chapters before being able to ply as Havik. Interestingly, the Cleric of Chaos known as Havik has been a part of Mortal Kombat for a while, ever since making a debut in MK: Deception that came out in 2004.

What to do if you didn’t receive Havik after beating the Story Mode?
If you managed to beat the Story Mode but can’t find Havik in your roster or he still isn’t unlocked, there’s an easy fix. First, check your Story Progress rewards and see if you indeed completed the final chapter. Next, check your Notifications menu under your Kombat Kard.
You might have missed the progress rewards or didn’t claim them. Launch your Kombat Kard and check if that is the case. To do that, depending on your platform, use:
- PlayStation 5: Touchpad
- Xbox Series X|S: View button
- Nintendo Switch: ‘-’ button
- PC: ‘m’ key on the keyboard
After claiming your Story Progress reward, Havik will be unlocked in your roster. You can now select him as your fighter for your next Kombat in the arena.
