How to Evolve Nosepass into Probopass Teal Mask DLC Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Want to learn how to evolve Nosepass into Probopass in the Teal Mask DLC for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet? No problem. We’ve outlined everything you need to know, from Pokémon locations to evolution items.

The Teal Mask DLC for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet brings a plethora of new and old monsters to the table, including the Generation III Pokémon, Nosepass. In past titles, this unique Rock-type could only evolve under specific circumstances. Probopass, its Rock/Steel evolution, could only be obtained by levelling up Nosepass within a Magnetic Field area. The catch: neither Paldea nor Kitakami houses a location like this. Fortunately, there is another method to evolve your Nosepass into Probopass. Here’s what you need to do.

Pokémon Scarlet/Pokémon Violet Expansion Pass: The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero (Retail Version) Standard – Nintendo Switch [Digital Code]
  • Only one code for a Hisuian Zoroark can be used in either the Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet game. Upon purchase of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC, an email with your code will be sent to the email address registered to your Nintendo Account. From the in-game menu, go to the Poké Portal, then select Mystery Gift, select Get with Code/Password, and then enter your code.
  • The Mystery Gift option can be found within the Poké Portal menu option in the X menu after you unlock the feature in the Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet game. (This occurs after about 1 to 1.5 hours of gameplay, though individual gameplay time may vary.) An internet connection and a Nintendo Account is required to redeem the item in game. A Nintendo Switch Online membership is not required. Each item can only be redeemed once.

Nosepass will evolve into Probopass when it’s given a Thunder Stone in Scarlet and Violet. This produces the same result as gaining a level in a Magnetic Field in previous entries. It may seem counterintuitive, considering neither of these Pokémon are Electric-types. However, both of these monsters exude powerful magnetism, allowing them to manipulate this energy to their advantage.

Upon evolution, Probopass will learn the move Tri Attack. This Normal-type move has about a 20% chance of paralyzing, burning, or freezing its target. Fittingly, Probopass also has access to a wide variety of strong Electric-type attacks, including Discharge and Zap Cannon.

Where to Find Nosepass in The Teal Mask DLC

You’ll find loads of Nosepass inhabiting the Paradise Barrens in Kitakami, outlined on the above map. This is the same area where you’ll find Okidogi when the Loyal Three are resurrected. If you didn’t catch one of these Rock-types on your first trip to the location, you can always fly back later. Upon arrival, you should see a few spawns hanging out.

Apart from this location, you might also find Nosepass lingering in the northernmost point of Wistful Fields. The Compass Pokémon isn’t as populous here, but it can sometimes be seen roaming about the barren landscape of higher altitudes. You should find one soon enough with a bit of searching in rocky areas.

There are a handful of ways to pocket a Thunder Stone in the base games and the Teal Mask DLC. You may have some luck finding these stones on the ground in the Paradise Barrens, where wild Nosepass are also found. The more discarded items you pick up, the better the odds you’ll snag one.

If you’re pressed for time, you can also fly back to the Paldea region and visit Delibird Presents to purchase a Thunder Stone. Store locations are found throughout several cities, namely in Mesagoza, Cascarrafa, and Levincia. In the General Goods section of the shop, evolution stones are sold for 3,000 Poké Dollars each. Once you have a stone, give it to your Nosepass to trigger its evolution and add two new Pokédex entries.
