Is Call of Duty Coming to Nintendo Switch?

Nintendo has not had many Call of Duty games release on their platforms recently. Call of Duty: Ghosts was the last game on Nintendo’s console, back on the Wii U in 2013.

Since then, the newest Call of Duty iterations has been accepted as being beyond Nintendo’s capability. Nintendo doesn’t have many games with ultra-realistic graphics or intense military multiplayer shooters.

Yet, that may change very soon.

Is Call of Duty on Nintendo?

Newer Call of Duty games are not yet on Nintendo Switch or any Nintendo platform. However, this may change soon. Nintendo has been making deals to secure this possibility.

Thanks to a tweet from Brad Smith, the Vice Chair and President of Microsft, we know that Nintendo may soon have Call of Duty games.

Due to a deal Nintendo made with Microsoft, Call of Duty games will come to Nintendo if the deal between Microsoft and Activision-Blizzard goes through.

If it doesn’t, Nintendo may still be able to get Call of Duty games again, but their deal with Microsoft was likely better. A ported version may not be able to be released on Nintendo on day one, which is guaranteed with their Microsoft deal.

When is Call of Duty coming to Nintendo?

The deal between Microsoft and Nintendo states a 10-year commitment. Microsoft would not have made any guarantee that didn’t include that this was only if Microsoft could get Call of Duty from Activision-Blizzard.

So the 10-year deal will most likely start after the acquisition has been completed. The UK will not make a ruling until April, and the EU is currently against the deal.

Due to government pushback, we most likely wouldn’t see a game on Nintendo until 2025 to 2026. This is also a very generous estimate since the acquisition will probably affect any games in development.

Microsoft’s promise of Nintendo’s day-one port release will also add to the time required.

Will MW2 Come to Nintendo Switch?

It is unlikely that MW2 will make it to Nintendo. The deal is unlikely to be completed before 2024, as stated above. Then the next Call of Duty may reach Nintendo, which won’t be for another year or two. By then, there will most likely be another Call of Duty game out.

Will Warzone 2 Come to Nintendo Switch?

Warzone 2 might be the first Call of Duty game on Nintendo Switch consoles. The game will only need to be ported to Nintendo, and may only require small downscaling. In the event that the deal goes through, we might see either Warzone 2 or Warzone 3 on Nintendo Switch.

What Is the Next Call of Duty Game Coming to Nintendo Switch?

If Activision continues its trend, and Microsoft can acquire Activision, then we may know what the next game is. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 is most likely the next Call of Duty game on Nintendo.
