How To Get More Vivariums in Hogwarts Legacy

As Hogwarts Legacy gains popularity and more and more people venture into the game, they’ll discover that there are a lot of hidden aids throughout the game. And Vivariums are a whole other world for you to discover. Once you advance in the game, you’ll start to unlock beasts. And once you acquire more than one, you’ll realize you need someplace safe to keep them.

All of this may seem very confusing and daunting at first. First of all, how do you find these places? What do these places do? How many such places exist? It can all seem a little overwhelming but fret not as you’re in the right place. Let’s dive right in.

How To Unlock More Vivariums in Hogwarts Legacy?

Now the million-dollar question—how do you unlock all four Vivarium? The answer is simple. Progress through the game and complete quests to expand your Vivarium collection. Here is how to unlock all four Vivarium Rooms in Hogwarts Legacy.

  • Grassland Vivarium
    • To unlock the grassland Vivarium, you will be asked to solve a side quest by the name of Phoenix Rising. You must ensure the safe return of the phoenix to the room of requirements. This will then lead you to the Vivarium located near the southeast side of Hogwarts Castle.
  • Forest Vivarium
    • To unlock the forest Vivarium you must solve a main quest, the quest of The Elf, the Nab-sack, and the Loom. For this quest, you’ll have to take guidance from the Helm of Urtkot and the caretakers Lunar Lament.
  • Coastal Vivarium
    • To unlock the Coastal Vivarium, you must first capture a minimum of 10 beasts. You’ll then have to start The Plight of House Elf side quest. Once you’ve solved the side quest you’ll have to find Deek. Deek will then guide you to the Coastal Vivarium.
  • Swamp Vivarium
    • The Swamp Vivarium can be unlocked by completing a main story quest. This is the quest of Fire and Vice. To complete this quest you’ll have to work alongside Poppy, a Hufflepuff student. Once you’ve finished this quest, Professor Weasly will instruct you to meet Deek in the Room of Requirements who will then lead you to the Vivarium.

What Is a Vivarium in Hogwarts Legacy?

A Vivarium is a sort of refuge or asylum where you can keep magical beasts safe, such as Threstrals. For that, you’ll first have to capture some beasts that you can keep in the Vivarium. Once you’ve successfully gotten to a Vivarium, you can do various things with your creatures such as feeding them, grooming them, playing with them, training them, or even breeding them.

Now Vivariums are not all simple. There is a limit to the number of beasts you can keep in them. You can keep a maximum of 12 beasts inside one of these safe havens, however, there is one catch. You can only have a maximum of three species inside a Vivarium. 

How Many Vivariums Are Available in Hogwarts Legacy?

Currently, there are four different Vivariums available inside the game. Thus you have a maximum capacity of holding 48 beasts at a time. The four Vivarium types are: 

  • Grassland Vivarium
  • Forest Vivarium
  • Coastal Vivarium
  • Swamp Vivarium
