If you’re a Harry Potter fanatic, and a gamer too, chances are you’ve already come across this magical game. But if you haven’t, fret not as it’s not too late to start now. Now, if you’re ahead of the curve and already a player, you probably want to learn all the secrets, and one of those secrets, flying, is just what I’m out to do here for you.
Flying has always been one of the best ways to travel in video games, including Hogwarts Legacy. The magical title offers the ability to fly via a magic broom or a mount. Both types of flying have to be unlocked, but these will give you an aerial view of Hogwarts and the surrounding area and let you get from place to place quickly.
Types of Flying in Hogwarts Legacy
In Hogwarts Legacy, there are two options you have if you want to fly. However, both of them must be unlocked separately after solving different quests. We’ll get into more details about that later on in the article. The two types of flying are:
- Broom flying
- Mount flying
The main difference between broom flying and mount flying is distance and speed. Brooms give you a high speed for short distances. However, if you’re looking to travel a long distance, flying by mount is your best bet as it starts out slow but acquires tremendous speed over time.

How To Unlock Broom Flying in Hogwarts Legacy
Broom flying can be unlocked as you dive deeper into the game and is a comparatively easier process. You simply have to complete the 19th main quest of flying classes quest taught by Professor Kagawa. After you’ve passed the classes all that’ll be left is acquiring a broom.
To get a broom, you will need to go down to Hogsmeade and to a shop that’ll be named Spintwitches Sporting Needs. Once you’re in that shop you have to go to Albie Weekes and buy your first broom from him. However, you should note that this shop will only become accessible once you’ve completed your flying lessons.
There are a total of 13 brooms available in the game, however, you only need one to start flying. Once you’ve bought a broom you can vary its speed by completing a variety of side quests.
How To Unlock Mount Flying in Hogwarts Legacy
The second way you can fly in Hogwarts Legacy is by using a mount. Now this isn’t as easy as unlocking a broom nor can you achieve it so early on in the game. It’ll be unlocked once you complete the 30th quest, The High Keep. This quest will be led by Natty.
Once you complete the quest, it’ll unlock the ability for you to fly using a mount. However, you’ll have to acquire your first mount, yourself! You can do this by rescuing Highwing from the roof of the Falbartan Castle where the Rookwood’s Poachers will have kept him in a cage. You can fly your mount by accessing the fly mount option from the items wheel.
