What Does the Extra Padding Passive Do in Helldivers 2? Explained
You start the game with this passive unlocked, but its exact function is not explained in detail. Read on to see what the Extra Padding Passive does in Helldivers 2.
In Helldivers 2, you have a wide array of tools and equipment to help you defend Freedom and Managed Democracy. The ones getting the most spotlight are the weapons, of course. Besides them, you have Stratagems, providing supply drops, air strikes, and deploying automated turrets when needed. And let’s not forget different armor sets, the only thing standing between you and alien claws. Moreover, some of these armors have a specific Passive bonus, to further enhance your fighting abilities. The first one you get is Extra Padding, but its description is quite vague. So, let’s see what the Extra Padding Passive does in Helldivers 2.
What Extra Padding Passive Does in Helldivers 2?
Extra Padding is the first Passive you come across. It states that it “provides a higher Armor Rating”, but does not go into much detail. Thankfully, after a couple of updates we an answer. Extra Padding increases your armor rating by 50
In other words, the damage you would take is reduced. Bear in mind that no armor protects you fully from being right next to the source of the explosion, ie, standing over a grenade or stepping on a landmine will still have fatal consequences. But, if you are some distance away from the source of the explosion, the damage you take will be greatly reduced.
What Armor Has Extra Padding?
As far as we know, only the two “starter” armor have the Extra Padding Passive for now. Those armors are B-01 Tactical (the standard issue) and TR-7 Ambassador of the Brand (the one you got if you pre-ordered the game). Additionally, the Superstore offers mixes of armor types and Perks. If you happen upon a heavy armor with Extra Padding, you’ll see it has a whopping 200 Armor Rating. More armor with this Passive may be added in the future.
