The Mystery of the Purple Question Marks in Helldivers 2

Over the last week or so, dedicated players have faced a lot. A brand new patch and an exciting new Warbond dropped on June 13, and the Major Order united brave players in saving the children. Also, many Helldivers 2 players reported seeing purple question marks of various sizes on different maps. What does it represent?

The Great Purple Question Marks In the Sky Confuse the Players

Many players reported seeing this phenomenon in the snowy tundra. Some even said that approaching the question mark made the game crash. Managed-Democracy joked: “What’s big and purple and sending you back to the desktop if you press Tab near it?”

The developers haven’t offered any answers yet, but the players certainly have a lot of theories. The most popular explanation is that the question marks cover missing textures. If an item or a prop loses its texture, it gets masked with a question mark. Zaitsev explained: “I’ve seen it in a few different places. Backpack, environment item like fauna, or the mission equipment that was posted recently. It’s just a placeholder for a failed or missing texture”.

Of course, Helldivers being Helldivers, many people had other ideas. Loco_Min_132 shared their experiences. They reported: “The question mark fades as a Gunship Patrol intercepts you and your squad”. So, could the question marks represent some sort of a trigger for Gunship Patrols? Maybe, but keep in mind that other players saw them in very different places, and not everyone faced a Gunship Patrol afterward.

Not_a_progamer proposed another popular idea. They said: “Tis the Illuminate, marking areas of interest”. Players have wished for the Illuminate to make an appearance in Helldivers 2, after defeating them in the first game. Another player, Keevari, added: “Classified information has been scanned and removed from your HUD by SEAF intelligence. Thank you for your cooperation”.

NotoriousPSP reminded everyone: “It’s not about the question, it’s about the answer, Democracy”. It’s nice to see that some players remember what is important through all the difficulties. For Super Earth citizens, democracy should be the only answer to all the questions.

Helldivers 2 Fans Solve Another Mystery

Redditors have put on their Sherlock Holmes hats and found an explanation for another apparent bug. Have you ever experienced suddenly stopping while you were sprinting? Well, this will blow your mind. Reportedly, if someone in your vicinity used a Stimpak, it would slow you down. Some Helldivers even tested out the theory with their friends and the results were conclusive.

Siege_Dongs reported: “Go into a game with a friend, injure yourself so you have like a quarter health. Have your friend start to sprint and then use a stim. Yup, if you stim while anyone is sprinting it will stop them from sprinting. This is why you keep slowing down while sprinting randomly”.

Players usually thought it was all because of their keyboards. NoBluey noted: “Holy s**t. All this time I thought my keyboard was dying on me. Needs more attention so it can be fixed”. Another player, foggiermeadows, reported: “I literally just bought a new keyboard yesterday over this issue, oh my word”. It’s good to know that before buying a new keyboard, you should check out the in-game bugs.

It seems that some players are quite the detectives. The list of reported glitches grows day by day, but the developers are working hard to satisfy their player base. Reporting issues is a crucial part of doing your duty and helping the devs out. Maybe they’ll reveal the secret of purple question marks to Helldivers 2 players. We kinda hope it has something to do with the Illuminate. Hopefully, we’ll find out soon.
