It’s been a long weekend, but Helldivers 2 players were victorious against a Terminid Supercolony on Meridia. But, no rest for the community. On the evening of June 3, a new Major Order left Helldivers 2 players in shock as Terminid species was revealed to be the target, once again. Some fans were very vocal about how the objective made them feel.
Fans Disappointed With the Major Order
Per the current Major Order, devoted Helldivers have four days to clear out the spreading Terminid infestation. This can be achieved by liberating four designated planets: Erata Prime, Turing, Acamar IV, and Phact Bay. As of the moment of writing this article, players still have a long way to go.
As you might have expected, after a couple of horrifying days on Meridia, some Helldivers were sick and tired of fighting bugs. Tromon468 stated: “Yeah, normally I follow Major Orders but after the last few hellish days on Meridia, also, phase one had bug focus too, I think I might skip this one”.
JMartell77 noted: “I could keep fighting robots for another year and be perfectly happy. I know I’m in the minority of the minority but I think Automatons are in a perfect place right now balance-wise when it comes to difficulty and weapons. Bugs need some work because playing “Shoot the Bile Titan” is sleep-inducing”.
Most players agreed, fighting Bile Titans left a bitter taste in Helldivers’ mouths. Another player, ahroun824, said: “Yeah, I had to take a few Bot dives to wash that bug taste out before I went back to the MO”. Fighting one type of enemy over and over again can be tiring and repetitive. With only Terminids and Automatons being our enemies, the problem of repetitiveness is bound to happen. If only there were a third enemy…
Easy-Purple shared their predictions: “My bet is we are capturing territory that will be allowed to be taken over by an enemy that definitely won’t be appearing out of the wormhole”. An interesting observation, especially if you see what JMartell77 added. They noted: “Clear out some bugs planets around the portal to make more room for the Illuminate”.
Are the Illuminate Coming to Helldivers 2?
One of the fans, redpoemage, gave the most comprehensive answer. They said: “Realistically, there’s no way we get a third faction anytime soon when Arrowhead is still figuring out a good cadence of updates and a balance philosophy that people like more”. This player went on to explain how there were many details to be tweaked before an update of that size. They added: “…but it’s absolutely fun to speculate about so long as people don’t get unrealistic expectations”.
Other players have the aforementioned unrealistic expectations. Several fans pointed out that it’s been well over a month since the latest update, more time than ever before. Classicdude530 said: “If you’re going to have the game be in the state it’s at without an update for over a month and not have the Illuminate after we use their own technology to create a black hole then you’re honestly just f**king around at that point”.
Is there a Major Order in the Helldivers 2 future that will bring players a threat other than the Terminid one? We’ll have to wait and see. In the inspiring words of Smaptastic: “Let’s grind it out, divers. Three yards and a cloud of democracy”.
