With Terminids being the center of attention for some time now, Helldivers 2 players are becoming nostalgic for good old Automatons. With all the ruckus surrounding the current Major Order, fans wish for nothing more than some bots to demolish. Expecting the shift from Terminids to Automatons in the future Major Orders, players share which improvements would make Helldivers 2 more enjoyable.
Fans Share the Most Annoying Attributes of Automatons
A Redditor, Nivajoe, reported: “I suspect people would like automatons more if they minimized the Ragdoll and Flinch”. They explained: “I play automatons almost exclusively. The only thing I hate about it is how it feels like I’m just constantly getting thrown around. Constant explosions, constantly being thrown somewhere. The bugs are nothing like this”.
Busy-Meaning5360 added: “Stimming and having Flinch cancel it even though you hear the injection noise never ceases to enrage me”. Another player, panchochewy85, confirmed: “I could live with the rag doll tbh even if it is some BS sometimes (it’s also funny sometimes) but the flinch and getting canceled out drives me insane”.
_Weyland_ composed an intricate list of small details that were bothering the players. The first item on the list: “Flinch seemingly in sync with enemy fire rate. As soon as my reticle gets back on target, they shoot again”. We have to agree, that’s infuriating. The second item: “Rocket headshots. Nuff said”. They also reminded everyone of “Weirdly random DPS dished out by shield devastators and MG raiders. Sometimes you can survive 3 of them out in the open and sometimes just one guns you down in a second”.
Lastly, they talked about one-way covers. They said: “Dropship and Fabricator Strider debris becoming one-way cover. If I cannot shoot an MF through that, why does it have a line of fire on me?”. Several Redditors seconded that. One of them, bertbert1111, claimed: “Debris being one-way cover can really f**k up a game”.
Will These Improvements Make a Difference?
Other players contributed with the irks of their own. One of them, Iamauser666, shared: “The fact that they basically track you gets me too. At one point I saw a random tank perfectly move toward my teammate 150 away who hadn’t made a sound. Like it was just slowly rolling towards him, after randomly waking up from its slumber”.
Longshot717_ had something else on their mind. They said: “On the whole, bugs included, the sound design needs to be improved to have more defining sounds. Bile titans should have louder steps, rockets should be louder, pretty much all the heavys should be louder and have more unique sounds”. We’d have to agree with this one especially. Good sound design provides for a more immersive experience.
Of course, not all fans wish for changes. Obvious_Coach1608 simply stated: “Hard disagree. Bug slowing effects (Hunters/Stalkers, Bile spew attacks) is way worse to deal with than the occasional getting knocked down”. Some players wholeheartedly agreed with this statement.
