All Hell Breaks Loose As Helldivers 2 Players Get a New Major Order
On May 29, a new Major Order was issued. As you probably know, dedicated Helldivers were assigned to exterminate the Terminid Supercolony. Simple enough, right? It turns out that in order to complete the mission, players will have to destroy Meridia. Some players have expressed their exasperation with the objective of the new Helldivers 2 Major Order.
A Major Order Elicits a Major Backlash From Some Players
The official X account for Helldivers 2 posted: “MAJOR ORDER: OPERATION “ENDURING PEACE”. The time has come. We must eradicate the Meridia Supercolony via experimental deployment of weaponized Dark Fluid. The destruction of an entire planet is a tragedy – but the tyrannical Terminids leave us no choice. Good luck, Helldivers”.

At first, the community was overjoyed. This seemed like a true challenge for the dedicated players. Release82 raved: “Gonna blow this planet up for DEMOCRACY and face NO consequences, what so ever nope. Not gonna make a portal for the illuminate by mistake. No sir. None. Nope”. Medium-Alfalfa-6792 contributed: “Whooooo war crimes for democracy!!! Let’s f**king go”.
Unfortunately, they were quick to learn that this mission was almost impossible. A Redditor, jbrinks314, said: “The mission is damn near impossible on [level] 7. Just tried to run it, you have to call in dark matter and then a drill, then protect the drill (3 sites) while it injects the dark matter. Breaches spawn literally on the drill itself so you kill the drill trying to clear. It’s f**king hard”.
Another player, texoradan, added: “I just tried it on level 3. Swarmed by shriekers and had no way to extract”. Masbig91 confirmed: “Yup was running on 1 to get the grip of the new objectives. Finished the objectives but failed to extract, the sky was covered in Shriekers amounts I haven’t seen before even on higher levels”.
Fans accused the developers of not testing the mission before releasing it. DaMarkiM claimed: “There is NO WAY anyone play-tested the new mission type EVEN ONCE on ANY DIFFICULTY”. Digitalon jokingly explained: “Dark fluid is experimental, of course, it hasn’t been tested! We are the test!”

Some Helldivers Thrive Under Pressure
Of course, there is always another point of view. Some Helldivers 2 players have embraced the chaos of the new Major Order. One of them, 54NCH32, said: “It’s nuts and utter chaos and it’s a blast. OK, spawns on drills suck (defo a bug) but hot damn, I expected a “super colony” to be tough, and this sh*t is metal as f**k. And man, that first “shrieker fountain” extract was epic (no one survived, but we have since)”.
Present_Brother_4678 agreed: “Same here soldier, huge fan of what they’re doing in this new mission and MO – hoping they can hotfix the progress bug soon”. Although it contains some controversial choices, such as bugs spawning on drills, some players have really enjoyed themselves. The Major Order is very hard to complete, but sometimes it’s fun to face a challenge. Why not give it another go? You might surprise yourself.
