The latest Major Order was completed in less than 12 hours, with dedicated players managing to kill 100 million Terminids in that time frame. After the week-long bot MO, it seems that killing some bugs was just what the doctor ordered. While waiting for the next Major Order, Helldivers 2 players can’t help but wonder what this killing rate will do to the Terminid evolution.
The Latest Major Order Teased a Possible Bug Evolution
If you were asleep or working, you probably missed the entire Major Order. Now, with it behind them, the players are looking back and realizing that the consequences might be huge. You see, there was one little detail in the debrief that didn’t catch everyone’s eye at first.
The debrief stated: “In order to better predict certain previous unforeseeable outcomes, the Ministry of Science has begun a Terminid Research Initiative. This initiative, if successful, will lead to more democratic outcomes for all of humanity, and ultimately, the Terminids themselves”.
Pretty, straightforward, right? Well, the next part is what made some Helldivers super-excited, and others tremble with fear. It read: “Terminid evolution is known to accelerate under duress. Therefore, in order to observe potential outcomes, applying controlled duress to the Terminids will be necessary for Terminids themselves”.
So, after exterminating all these bugs, what are the players expecting? Our first thought was maybe a buffed-up version of one or several already existing Terminids. Maybe some Spewing Shriekers, or Bile Chargers. If there are two types of the Tank, why wouldn’t there be two types of Bile Titans? Well, most Helldivers want to see one bug species return.
Helldivers 2 Players Wish For a Certain Terminid to Make a Comeback
You might have guessed it, but after this Major Order, almost the entire Helldivers 2 player base wants the Hive Lord to be the product of the Terminid evolution. One of the fiercest enemies from the first installation of the game seems to have captured the players’ hearts. Affectionately called Worms, these horrifying bugs are most known for making the ground tremble while digging their tunnels. Also, they are extremely hard to kill.
Fresh_Dealer_9694 said: “Something is not right. They’re summoning”. One player, budoucnost, noted: “I had a feeling this was the start of the Hive Lord saga”. Angel_OfSolitude raved: “Oh yes, it’s happening. I want to crush the big wormy boys”.
Over the last several months, the players reported seeing strange rocks, or statues, most recently on Gacrux. Tnel1027 explained: “For those new among us – these “statues” appear to be the molts from a Terminid enemy from Helldivers 1 known as a Hive Lord: a massive sandworm-like creature”.
Who knows, maybe the Hive Lords are already here, lurking underground, waiting for the perfect moment to strike. We always considered them to be possible ancestors of the current species, but we aren’t exactly experts in the field of Terminid evolution. The Ministry of Science will let us know soon, in the meantime, we’ll be trying to complete the community-led Mini Order. Will you join us?
