Is It Morally Wrong to Euthanize a Helldivers 2 Teammate?

Life is rarely, if ever, black and white, we are all living in the shades of grey. So it makes sense that the choices we make in our favorite games would also be somewhere in between. Sometimes the correct answer is obvious. More often than not, Helldivers 2 players have to make some morally questionable choices like should one euthanize a fellow teammate low on health, or let them struggle.

Some Helldivers 2 Players Don’t Mind Getting Their Hands Dirty for a Greater Good

ThirdAutumn made waves in the Helldivers 2 community when they shared a dilemma. Imagine a situation where a player on your team was low on HP, and you were low on Stims or just wanted to save them for yourself. Would it be wrong to kill your low HP teammate so they can be reinforced to full HP, ammo, and Stim?

RV__2 mentioned another plus of this questionable action. They noted: “Added bonus of arriving in a self-guided orbital strike”. Honestly, we’d call that a win-win situation, given that you have enough lives left.

This topic truly shook up the morality of some players. Sad-Needleworker-590 stated: “You should always Stim your team! But, to be honest… I hate how solid this tactic is”. Another player, TyanTheA, reminded the community: “Sometimes, a Helldiver is more useful dead than alive”.

Queasy_Profit_9246 shared an even more considerate tactic. They said: “Yeah, I sometimes kill myself with a support weapon and then when I respawn it’s waiting. Easy Stim/ammo refill and way quicker than actually trying to get someone to Stim you”.

Most Helldivers Agree You Shouldn’t Euthanize a Teammate

For all of you Helldivers 2 players who might want to help and euthanize a teammate, think again. It comes as no surprise that most members of the community deemed this approach as undemocratic and even treasonous. H2so4pontiff stated: “Death is for any and all undemocratic bastards, and anything that is not a Helldiver, who hasn’t become a treasonous bastard. It’s also for those happy little accidents we can’t avoid”.

Another player, shiroko28, pointed out: “Nah, it breaks the immersion. I want to try my best to survive and keep others alive. When I run a Supply Pack, I try my best to look out for my teammates’ resources. I always try to plan my path so that I can cross paths with the ones that need to resupply. It feels great working together, you know”.

DoTheCreep_ahh reminded everyone of an interesting phenomenon. They noted: “Just leave him be. Most people tend to have a sudden and suspicious burst of skill increase when they realize they’re out of Stims and one shot from death. It’s crazy how good people become at stealth and not shooting every Patrol they see when low on supplies”.

Well, if we were being honest, we always Stim our teammates, but the idea does sound alluring and quite smart if you think about it. Obviously, ask for consent. Killing a teammate randomly usually ends in disaster and revenge. We might try out the self-sacrificing tip while playing this current MO, that seems like a better option than dying at the hands of those undemocratic Automatons. For Super Earth.
