Do you need some new Freedom-bringing weapons on your missions? Read on to see how to unlock new weapons in Helldivers 2.
The newest title from Arrowhead Game Studios, Helldivers 2 is the next installment of the popular squad-based sci-fi shooter. You and your squadmates drop into hostile territory, guns blazing, ready to take on alien bugs and automatons. Each member of your squad can carry different weapons, so you can effectively take on a variety of targets. But how do you get your hands on different weapons? How can you unlock new weapons in Helldivers 2? Let’s see.
How to Unlock New Weapons in Helldivers 2?
Rather than unlocking new weapons for an in-game shop, Helldivers 2 has a peculiar way of doing so. On that note, the devs said: “While you’ll start with Super Earth’s standard issue equipment, new weapons can be bought from the Acquisition Centre with Medals – earned for completing operational objectives – or with Super Credits, available to buy from PlayStation Store.” How does that work? Helldivers 2 has Warbonds, something like Battle Passes, that grant you access to new weapons, once you unlock them with aforementioned Medals.
In short, get a Warbond, gather some Medals, and use them to unlock new weapons. The good thing is those weapons are not that much better than the standard ones. That reduces the pay-to-win feeling, as your success relies on your skill and teamwork more than your weapons. So, what are the first new weapons that you can get?

Helldivers Mobilise! is a free Warbond that every player gets. Each Warbond has tons of unlockable gear and cosmetics, and below are the weapons and their costs in Medals.

More weapons are available in the Premium Warbond, included in the Super Citizen Edition.
- BECOME A LEGEND – You will be assembled into squads of up to four Helldivers and assigned strategic missions. Watch each other’s back – friendly fire is an unfortunate certainty of war, but victory without teamwork is impossible.
- LOADOUTS – Rain down freedom from above, sneak through enemy territory, or grit your teeth and charge head-first into the jaws of combat. How you deliver liberty is your choice; you’ll have access to a wide array of explosive firepower, life-saving armour and battle-changing stratagems… the jewel in every Helldiver’s arsenal.
- REQUISITION – Super Earth recognises your hard work with valuable Requisition. Use it to access different rewards that benefit you, your squad, your destroyer ship and our overall war effort.
- THREATS – Everything on every planet wants you dead. That’s what we’re dealing with. Each enemy has distinct and unpredictable characteristics, tactics, and behaviour – but they all fight ferociously and without fear or morality.
Can You Unlock New Weapons In-Game?
Well, not really. You can requisition new weapons in-game using Stratagems. Weapons like sniper rifles, missile launchers, and the like. But, those weapons are only for that mission, you don’t get to keep them once a mission is over.
