After almost a week of excruciating battles against the Automatons, the Major Order was finally completed on July 17. Many brave Helldivers sacrificed their lives for Super Earth. This victory had a major impact on the progress of the Galactic War according to the latest update from Helldivers 2 devs.
The Helldivers 2 Devs Offer an Update on the Galactic War
Helldivers 2 Community Manager, TheBaskinator, took to Discord and Reddit to share the latest news. The update read: “Attention all Helldivers! The Automaton Dominion has been split in two! A large pocket of Automaton-held planets are cut off from Cyberstan, disrupting their supplies and communications. This will significantly impact the defenses on those planets, and it will take the Automatons time to recover. Until then, and so long as our barrier holds, the cut-off planets are vulnerable to our just liberation”.
It continued: “Super Earth High Command congratulates the Helldivers for demonstrating such fierce determination and strategic brilliance. High Command urges Helldivers to seize this opportunity of temporary disruption to the Automaton forces, and deliver freedom most effectively to the worlds now exposed before the socialist toasters regroup! Spill Oil”.
At the time of writing this article, the players are still waiting for a new Major Order. This win might be a perfect opportunity for Joel to push the Helldivers to make more progress on the bot front. Previously, the players complained that the war dynamics were too predictable with Major Orders switching from bots to bugs. Knowing that most players prefer fighting the Terminids, sticking to bots might cause some backlash.
Most Helldivers Approve of Another Bot Major Order
After the update on the Galactic War, another Major Order against the Automatons might be exactly what the Helldivers 2 players need. Surprisingly, the Reddit community was mostly for it. One player, schmearcampain, stated: “This feels like our first real chance at shaping the larger war. All the cut-off planets have a 0.0 decay rate. Aesir Pass and Matar Bay must be defended ASAP if attacked”.
Cavesloth13 explained: “Zero decay rate means even a small amount of divers can liberate planets. It’ll take awhile unless they focus one or two, but progress won’t get erased unless the decay rate goes back up, which apparently will only happen if the bots manage to push through to their forces again”.
TheAncientKnight noted: “If we had another MO we could literally take down half of the bot front. But I doubt that Joel would allow that. The next MO is most likely a bug MO maybe relating to those skyscraper-high spore towers?”.
Obviously, it wouldn’t be a Helldivers 2 topic if someone didn’t think of a twist in the form of a new (or maybe old?) enemy. How fun would that be? Theobald_4 suggested: “Be a shame if a certain advanced alien race came in and ruined our victory”.
Facing the Illuminate would certainly unite the bot and the bug players. After all, the black hole hasn’t been active yet, so we can’t know what awaits. We know this might be an unpopular opinion, but if the Illuminate don’t magically appear, we’d love to stay on the bot front. Of course, if they do, we’re taking our trusty Commando and trying it out on them.
