Fortnite Players Split Over Epic Games’ Effort – “You Have No Passion for This Game Anymore”

Fortnite’s Summer Escape event can’t seem to catch a break ever since it started. Many players complain about the lacklustre offering of activities. Mainly, the consensus being that the cosmetics are good, but not much else. They argue that Epic has lost any passion for the game. Many fans believe that proper events and LTMs are being replaced by collabs and the Creative mode. Could there be some truth to this assessment? The Reddit community certainly seems to think so.

Fortnite Fans Discuss the State of the Summer Event

In a Reddit thread started by Wimmy_92, players went back and forth about the Summer Escape event in Fortnite. The crux of the issue is the apparent lack of creativity for this event. As the original post states “[…] If you have no passion for the game or have zero creativity to make anything unique for the summer event at least hire someone who designs unique creative maps to make events better on the main map. […]”

There’s another side to the discussion, stating that the event is fine and players are simply expecting more than is realistic. The way user Tr00th puts it: “[…] Let’s face it, most of y’all are only after the free rewards anyway and no one here is going to bask in the sun during a live match even if Epic made a huge beach POI, it’s still a Battle Royale and you’re going to get shot at. […]”

The two sides to the argument

As with all proper internet discussions, this one split the community and devolved into name-calling. No matter which side you fall in, it’s clear that there’s a lot of passion for the topic. This is further spurred by the state of other recent events, showing the frustration of the hardcore player base.

On one side, we get a comment like J-TheGreat saying “Some of these comments don’t surprise me, can’t be critical on something without basically being told to “stop complaining”. No wonder Epic has been doing the bare minimum”.

Meanwhile, in contrast, Dexchampion99 rationalizes “Epic is constantly in a state of “Damned if you do, damned if you don’t.” People would complain even if they release the most insane multilayered complex month-long event with 40 million challenges and a free battle pass as a reward. People are gonna complain if they release a week’s worth of challenges and some new skins”.

The debate rages on in this and other similar threads, and will likely continue to even into some future events. With such a huge player base, it’s hard to keep everyone happy. Where do you stand in this? Have you been enjoying the Summer Escape event?
