Loss streaks are among the most frustrating things in gaming. They feel like a spiral that keeps pulling you down no matter what. Many Fortnite players feel like this season has been particularly brutal when it comes to matchmaking. On more than one occasion, players have come out and said that they feel like they can’t catch a break compared to before.
Some Fortnite Players Can’t Seem To Win
Has the matchmaking in Chapter 4: Season 3 of Fortnite become tougher? The community seems to think that it has. According to this popular Reddit thread, many players feel they’re being put in tougher lobbies than before.
This doesn’t seem to be a problem regarding players who haven’t been winning before. According to those who commented, many of them had a consistent amount of wins in previous seasons. Yet in this season, they can’t seem to get more than a couple or even none.
User Positive-Ferret-9556 seems to think that it’s not anything out of the ordinary: “The problem is that you are too good so you get put in good lobbies with people that are around the same level as you or in your case higher”. While this could very well be the case, the number of such examples all in one season points to a larger issue.
Others conclude that this season requires a change in approach to the final stages of the match. When the storm starts closing in, players will need to adapt differently than before. As user ItsHeyKyle puts it: “If a win is what you seek play to the edge of the final zones and get better positioning. This season is ALL about positioning. Run port-a-bunkers or shockwave grenades”.

Many others offer classic solutions that work in most ranked games. Change up the time or day when you play. Try different modes to develop new strategies. Take a break from the game to refresh.
It’s encouraging to see that the community agrees that it’s nothing sinister behind it. They have rallied together to offer support and advice, instead of proposing thin-foil hat theories of some shady culprit for why they can’t seem to win anymore.
