It is a sad fact that Epic Games and Apple couldn’t see eye to eye in the past, and the result is that iOS users couldn’t play Fortnite on their devices. Playing Fortnite on Andriod is totally possible, but iPhone users were left out. The problem was, in general, that Epic and Apple couldn’t come to an agreement over the app stores and game distribution. But, recently, some progress has been made that will allow iOS users in the EU to finally play Fortnite on their phones.
Fortnite Awaiting Final Notarization From Apple
On August 12, Epic Games announced on their official Newsroom profile on X that: “Fortnite, Rocket League Sideswipe and the Epic Games Store have all been submitted to Apple for final notarization. Stay tuned for the launch of the Epic Games Store on iOS in Europe soon!”
As it stands, we are unsure if this will encompass all European countries or just those belonging to the European Union. European countries outside of the EU usually have no official iOS support, so those countries may end up left out. Furthermore, there is no word on whether this will include iPadOS as well. Everything is still a bit vague at the moment.
The EU Community is Ecstatic
As you’d expect, the EU Fortnite players are quite happy with this turn of events. Between all the comments like “Hopefully it all goes smooth going forward” by FortnitePV2 and “Hype if it finally gets accepted” by Pupsker, some players are wondering when will this notarization be concluded. Unfortunately, no official word on that besides the official “…soon!”
This is all concerning EU players. Players outside of the EU are feeling a bit left out. User WadeaFNM stated: “That’s not good why only in Europe not global?” and basithtweets added: “Make it on all continents.”
We can only guess that the laws are different for each area, but we do hope that Epic and Apple come to an agreement and enable Fortnite for iOS users from the US, Asia, and other non-EU parts of the world as soon as they can.
