Trying to figure out how to build and upgrade your village in LEGO Fortnite? We’ve got you covered. We’ll go over the steps you need to take to get started on your build and how to increase your level later on.
In the new LEGO Fortnite game mode, you’re dropped into a world where you’re tasked with constructing a village from the ground up. As you make progress, you’ll level up and welcome new villagers to the town you’ve created. Of course, this takes a lot of hard work and effort, depending on the resources at your disposal.
Fortunately, most seed codes offer up everything you’ll need to get started on your village from the jump. With a solid plot of land and ample building materials, you can continue to upgrade your town. Here’s how to start building your village and what you can do to level up as you make progress in LEGO Fortnite.
How to Build a Village in LEGO Fortnite
To effectively start your village build in LEGO Fortnite, you’ll need to put together a Village Square. You can do this shortly after you’ve finished the tutorial at the start, though you’ll first need to make sure you’ve built a campfire and a simple shack.
With these tasks completed, you’ll just need to collect the following resources to craft the square from the Utility section of your Build menu:
- x10 Wood
- x10 Granite
Once built, you can choose both a color and a symbol for your village’s map icon. Sadly, you won’t actually be able to name it in the process. That said, you will unlock rewards and a series of new mechanics as you work to increase the level of your village. This means improving its rating to start building upgrades.
Improving Your Village Rating
Earning a solid village rating in LEGO Fortnite is as simple as building new items. Like, lots of items. What’s more, pretty much anything you can craft will count toward increasing your rank, from workbenches to walls and décor. The more you’ve built, the better your rating will be.
Eventually, you will have done enough to level up, which will cause your Village Square to glow. This indicates that your village is ready for an upgrade. Of course, you can also keep a steady eye on your rank by monitoring the progress bar in your HUD.

How to Upgrade Your Village in LEGO Fortnite
When your village is ready for an upgrade in LEGO Fortnite, the Village Square will begin to glow. To move up to the next level, interact with the square’s menu and navigate to the Village Upgrade tab. Here, you’ll see the requirements for each upgrade outlined. This will also detail the perks unlocked with each new level.
To reach Level 2, you’ll just need to collect 15 wood and 15 granite. As you continue to make progress, you’ll need to get your hands on higher quality materials. Because of this, you’ll want to continue building as much as you can to ensure you have what you need for each new upgrade.
