Matchmaking Error #3 is a connection-related issue, so try these simple fixes to get back to gaming as soon as possible.
- Restart Your Router – The whole community recommends doing a hard reset of your router to fix this problem. So, unplug your router, give it a couple of minutes to “cool down”, plug it back in, and see if Matchmaking Error #3 still appears.
- Change Matchmaking Server Region or Account – Some players report that this Error was gone when they changed the region they play in. To do so, go to Settings, then the Game tab, look for Language and Region, and there you will find Matchmaking Region. Change it to a different region, or select Auto, and try looking for a match once again. Note that the farther the selected region is from you, the higher ping you will get, so try to select regions that are closest to you first.
Another advice some payers offered is to try playing with a different account, if you have one. - Try a Wired Connection or Hotspot – If you are connected to the internet via wi-fi, consider switching to an Ethernet cable since it provides you with a more stable connection. - Disable or Change VPN – In the case you are using a VPN, try turning it off. Occasionally, a third-party VPN may mess with Fortnite’s connection, so try disabling it, or at least changing your VPN region.
