So, you want to buy a plot of land for your house in FFXIV but don’t know about the lottery system? Well, we don’t blame you. After all, this lottery system is rather unique, leaving some players confused.
If you’re one of those players, then worry not as we’re here to clear up any questions or doubts you might have about entering the lottery in Final Fantasy 14.
What does Entering Lottery do?
Before we tell you how to enter a lottery, we believe it’s important to go through what entering the lottery does. You see, purchasing a house in Final Fantasy XIV is rather different as there are only a set number of plots for every data center.
Because of this, every time a player wants to purchase a plot for their house, it’s important to enter a lottery for that plot. Every nine days, a player is able to enter a specific plot’s lottery to see if they’re able to win it. Winning the lottery gives you a claim to a house for your character.

How to the Enter Lottery in FFXIV
Before you enter the lottery to buy a house, there are two things you need to do.
- Have at least one class that’s level 50 or higher (some tips might help you level up faster.)
- Have your character’s Grand Company rank be at second lieutenant or higher.
After meeting all these requirements, you’ll be ready to enter the lottery and start looking for the plot you want.
After picking out the plot you want for yourself (We actually recommend going for a smaller one that might have less demand to maximize your chances of winning it), what you have to do is:
- Complete the quest that offers access to the district of your choice (Limsa Lominsa, Gridania, Ul’dah, Kugane, and Ishgard)
- Head to the officer of the district of your choice and interact with them
- Select the Go to Ward option.
- Go through all the plots in every ward to see which one of them is available. If the price is in white then you can purchase it, but if you see the name of the owner then it has already been purchased.
- Click on the ward number and head to the plot’s location.
- Once there click on the button to enter the lottery and keep your fingers crossed for the next four days.
One thing to keep in mind is that you’ll have to pay the entire amount upfront. However, if you end up not winning the lottery, then you’ll be given a full refund so there’s no issue in that regard.
After entering the lottery, all that’s left to do is to hope to win, at which point you’ll see a popup in the plot indicating that you won. Remember to check in as soon as the period ends otherwise, you might miss your chance even if you win.
