Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Release Platforms

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will be releasing exclusively for PS5 consoles on February 29, 2024. This was revealed during Sony’s State of Play in September of 2023, during which the game was still in development. While the last installment to the FF7 remake trilogy was released on PS4 consoles back in 2020, there are currently no plans in place for an extended release at launch. Although, plans may change within the game’s first quarter.

This doesn’t come as a surprise, considering current-gen hardware is better able to handle the massive upgrades promised by developer and publisher Square Enix. That said, the news will surely disappoint players who began their playthrough of the trilogy on PS4. We’ll provide more updates on a potential expansion as they’re announced.

Is FF7 Rebirth Coming to PC?

It’s believed that FF7 Rebirth will receive an extended release to PC and other consoles post-launch, though this has not yet been confirmed by Square Enix. Those looking forward to a potential expansion have estimated that the new title might arrive on PC by May. Of course, we’ll need to await news from devs to confirm.

Will FF7 Rebirth Be on Switch?

Because FF7 Rebirth is expected to expand to other platforms post-launch, it’s certainly possible that it could be made playable on Switch systems down the line. A plethora of Final Fantasy titles are currently available to play on Nintendo’s current system, so the upcoming remake’s future seems bright. However, this hasn’t been confirmed just yet, so players are left to speculate in the meantime.
