Diablo 4 Season 1 NPC

Are you looking for advice on how to prepare for Diablo IV Season 1, Season of the Malignant? Don’t worry, this article will cover all the steps you need to take to get ready for seasonal play.

The first season of Diablo 4 since its launch is starting soon. For that reason, it’s a good idea to learn what you can do to prepare your account before the season begins. There are a few boxes to check for an optimal start. In this guide, we will explain everything that you can transfer into the new season, as well as everything else that you can do to prepare.

How To Prepare for Season 1 of Diablo 4

With the Season of the Malignant soon to be unleashed upon Sanctuary, you can complete a checklist of activities to get ready. This will provide you with the most optimal start as you enter the new season with a fresh character. Here’s everything that you can do and transfer in anticipation of the start of Season 1 in Diablo 4:

  • Finish the Campaign
  • Collect Altars of Lilith
  • Uncover the Full Map
  • Unlock Renown

The Pre-Season Patch

Before the new season starts, there will be a pre-season patch on July 18. This patch will allow players to essentially “preload” the game before the season starts. It will also introduce the new items and aspects to the game. Make sure to download the patch beforehand to start as early as possible.

Finish the Campaign

To even be eligible to start seasonal content, you will first need to complete the campaign on any difficulty. Only then will you be able to create a fresh seasonal character. Moreover, completing the campaign will unlock the option to skip the campaign, so you can get into the seasonal content as early as level 1.

Furthermore, progressing through the campaign will unlock the mount, which will be very handy during the season. That way, you can simply ride from one objective to another. This will cut the time spent travelling by a significant amount.

Collect Altars of Lilith

Altars of Lilith provide your character with small incremental stat boosts. Also, each one of them adds 10 Renown to your tally. But the best part is that your discovered Altars of Lilith will transfer to your seasonal character. With 160 Altars of Lilith available in total, that will give you a decent leg-up in both power and Renown grind.

Uncover the Full Map

Take the time to lift the fog of war from your world map in Diablo 4. Your discovered world map will transfer to Season 1, so you will know exactly where to go once the season starts. But that’s not all. Each discovered area is worth 5 Renown, which means that’s another chunk that’s going to be added to your seasonal character. With 307 areas in total, that’s a good amount of points already unlocked by default.

Unlock Renown

With the above two points covered, you will be well on your way to getting a lot of Renown points by just starting the game on a new character. This will result in a massive power boost for your character. Consider that with 200 Renown per area, you already get +1 Skill Points, and with a further 300 per area, you unlock 1 Extra Potion Capacity. After that, the third Renown breakpoint is well within reach, granting you another Skill Point to use on your character. The best part is that all your characters will share this initial power boost.
