Diablo 4 – How to Summon Echo of Varshan

Varshan was the main Boss in Diablo 4’s Season of the Malignant. He has returned in Season 2, so let’s see how to find Echo of Varshan in Diablo 4.

Season 2 added five new Bosses for you to tackle in the endgame. They are a great way of farming those powerful Unique items, used in the most powerful builds. Echo of Varshan is among the first endgame Bosses you will encounter, and being the easiest to beat and summon, it’s expected you will fight him regularly. Now let’s explore in more detail how to find Varshan in Diablo 4 Season 2.

How to Find Echo of Varshan

First, you must be in World Tier 3 or 4. Then, finding Varshan is quite simple. He is located in a Malignant Burrow. It’s his lair, located right next to the Tree of Whispers. The lair itself is short, and at its end, you will find a Malignant Altar. There you must deposit a couple of special items to summon Echo of Varshan. How to Summon Varshan in Diablo 4 Season 2

To summon Varshan in Tier 3, you will need you find some Malignant body parts: one Blackened Femur, one Trembling Hand, and one Gurgling Head. It’s the same in Tier 4, except you also need one Malignant Heart. There are a couple of ways you can get your hands on some Malignant body parts. 

• Whisper Cashes: Completing Whispers at the Tree of Whispers rewards you with Whisper Caches. Every Cache has a chance to give you a selection of Malignant body parts. This is the most popular method, as completing Whispers is quite fast, thanks to Helltides and Blood Harvest events.
• Grotesque Debtors: Grotesque Debtors are special Elite enemies that spawn usually when you defeat a World Boss or during the Blood Harvest. You will get a notification if one is about to appear nearby, and they definitely drop Malignant body parts.
• The Alchemist: If luck is not on your side and you have too many of one body part, there is a way of trading them. Visit an Alchemist, and go to their “Refine Resources” tab where you can craft Malignant Body Caches using one Femur, Hand, or Head, and some other Crafting Materials, depending on what body part you are trading in. Malignant Body Caches give you a random body part. There is also an option to trade for a specific part, but that requires one Malignant Heart.
  • Gurgling Head: 1 Malignant Heart, 4 Abstruse Sigil, 15 Veiled Crystal.
  • Trembling Hand: 1 Malignant Heart, 4 Baleful Fragment, 15 Veiled Crystal.
  • Blackened Femur: 1 Malignant Heart, 4 Coiling Ward, 15 Veiled Crystal.

Once you have gathered all three (or four, in Tier 4) body parts, head on to the Malignant Burrow and find the Malignant Altar where you will place the body parts. That’s how you summon Varshan.

What Does Varshan drop?

Mucus-Slick Egg

Varshan drops a selection of Uniques when defeated, but more importantly, he drops a Mucus-Slick Egg if defeated in World Tier 4. It is a special item that, along with Shards of Agony, is used to summon Uber Duriel.
