Does Diablo IV Have Microtransactions?

Let us face the elephant in the room first and foremost. Yes, there are microtransactions in Diablo 4. This may be a cause for concern for many long-time Diablo fans, and rightfully so too. After all, the Diablo game that came out before Diablo 4, Diablo Immortal, was littered with pay-to-win microtransactions that made it so the players who paid more could get ahead quicker than the ones who put in time and dedication. This was the first sign that Blizzard would add in-game purchases.

Is Diablo 4 Pay To Win?

Of course, just having microtransactions doesn’t mean a game is instantly pay-to-win. After all, just look at popular battle royale games like Fortnite, which have microtransactions but are far from being pay-to-win.

When it comes to Diablo 4, many players will be glad to know that although microtransactions exist in the game, players can only purchase cosmetic items that have no direct effect on gameplay. Apart from purchasing cosmetic-based items, players are also able to purchase the Battle Pass. In Diablo 4, this system is a Season Pass, which encompasses the whole in-game season.

Additionally, the developers have said that they want to make it so players are never forced to spend actual money to purchase anything in the game. Because of this, not only are all the cosmetics made in such a way that they’re able to mesh with the items that already exist in the game, but players can experience all core and seasonal gameplay features without spending an extra buck.
