If you are using a low-end PC, here are the best settings to run CS2 on.

In September 2023, after years of waiting and rumors, one of the most popular online shooters CS:GO was upgraded to Counter-Strike 2. CS2 was almost instantaneously embraced by the online community as a worthy successor of CS:GO. With a daily player base numbering in millions, not all players have the latest hardware the market has to offer

In the text below we will explore the best video settings in CS2 options for players that have a low-end PC. While those with high-end PCs will have no trouble playing CS2, others should take some time to adjust their settings. We will offer solutions to improve your fps, reduce lags and ping, and generally fix up your gameplay experience so that CS2 can run as smoothly as possible.

To get the maximum from your old gaming rig, you will need to change a few things in the game Settings menu, mainly video settings. So, under Video, you will have to change the following:

  • Aspect ratio: 4:3
  • Resolution: 1024×768 (should be good, but if you have a problem with the game you can try and go to the next lower resolution)

Your Refresh Rate should match your monitor’s, and your Display Mode should be Fullscreen. Right next to the Video tab is the Advanced Video tab. Under that category you should change all options so they look as follows:

  • Boost Player Contrast: Disabled
  • Wait for Vertical Sync: Disabled
  • Multisampling Anti-Aliasing Mode: None
  • Global Shadow Quality: Low
  • Model / Texture detail: Low
  • Texture Filtering mode: Bilinear
  • Shader Detail: Low
  • Particle Detail: Low
  • Ambient Occlusion: Disabled
  • High Dynamic Range: Performance
  • FidelityFX Super Resolution: Balanced

With all options set as above you should be able to play the game smoothly, even on a lower-end hardware PC. If everything is running with no trouble at all, you can try changing some video details to Medium. If your frame rate does not suffer for it, you can keep improving until you find the best performance preset your PC and graphics card can take. In case you start experiencing freezes, stutters, and FPS drops, dial back these settings to the last ones that worked with no issue.

We hope this helps you in getting that sweet FPS boost.
