How do ranks work in CS2, explained
In CS2 there are two forms of rank play, Premier and Competitive. Both have their separate rank values. The Competitive mode kept the previous ranking system from CS:GO. Meanwhile, in Premier the ranking system is replaced with numbers.

Ranks in CS2 Competitive
In Competitive mode, players can pick a map or maps they want to queue for. In this mode, you can have different ranks for every map. This means you can have a high rank on some maps and lower on others. So you will not have to play against higher-ranked players on maps you do not play often or at all.

Ranks in CS2 Premier
In Premier mode all active duty maps are in the pool of potentially playable maps. Teams take turns in banning the map they do not want to play until only one map is left. After you win ten placement matches in this mode you will be given a CS Rating. This number will show you where you stand on three leaderboards. The first one is the World leaderboard, and there are also Regional and Friends leaderboards.
Below are the Rank and Color and their Rank Equivalent:
- 0-4999 (grey) / Silver 1 – Silver Elite Master
- 5000-9999 (light blue) / Gold Nova1 – Gold Nova Master
- 10000-14999 (blue) / Master Guardian – Distinguished Master Guardian
- 15000-19999 (purple) / Legendary Elite – Legendary Elite Master
- 20000-24999 (pink) / Supreme Master First Class
- 25000-29999 (red) / Global Elite
- 30000+ (Yellow) / Beyond Global Elite
