If you do not like the look of your dice this article is for you. We will explain how to change Dice Skins in Baldur’s Gate 3.
The look and design of your dice have been a serious topic for Dungeons & Dragons fans for decades now. Players tend to range from those who have one plain set for everything, to the so-called “Dice Goblins”, who are drowning themselves in dice. Let’s not forget the belief that some dice are unlucky and should be avoided, while we keep others only for those game-breaking rolls. Inanimate plastic objects to some, a force of nature to others. The fact that Larian Studios decided to honor these polyhedral buggers in Baldur’s Gate 3 with the option of choosing your own Dice design is a nice homage to its DnD roots.
How to Change Dice Skins in Baldur’s Gate 3
Changing the design of your Dice in Baldur’s Gate 3 is simple, yet a little counter-intuitive. You cannot do that from any Menu, Options, or anywhere you would expect. The option to change your Dice skins appears when you are prompted to roll a die (a Skill check, for example.). Once the screen for rolling Dice appears, you will find a small Costumize Dice button in the lower left corner of the screen. Click on it and you will see a menu where you can select the design of your Dice.
What Dice Designs Does BG3 Have
At the moment, there are only a couple of Dice Skins in BG3. We hope that Larian Studios will add more Dice designs, as it seems like a simple thing to implement.
- Scuffed Metal – Default skin,
- Behir Blue – Alternative default skin
- Dragonflame Red – Unlocked with the purchase of the Deluxe Digital Edition
- Illithid Purple – Unlocked with the purchase of the Collector’s Edition (sold out)
Nothing is stopping you from changing Dice Skins as you see fit. If you like to use Scuffed Metal for the warriors on your party, and then change to Dragonflame Red when you cast Fireball you are free to do so.
- All dice read from the top for easy comprehension
- Sharp edges for easy shape recognition
- Numbers are as large as possible on each face
