How to Spectate a Fortnite Match? Everything you need to know
Spectating a Fortnite match is a great way to learn some tricks, or you may just want to cheer on your friends. Either way, let’s take a look at how to Spectate a match in Fortnite.
There are various reasons you may want to Spectate a match. Some players prefer Spectating as a learning method. Watching others play may give you some new insights. Or you may just want to watch friends play, either to cheer them on, hang out, or maybe coach them. So, how can you do it?
How to Spectate a Match in Fortnite
There was a Watch Game option in Fortnite, which essentially gave you the opportunity to watch anyone play. Epic Games have removed it since it was abused in many ways. Like Stream Sniping, where one gamer will watch a Streamer’s match and then convey his whereabouts to a friend in the same game as the Streamer. So, how can we Spectate a Fortnite match now? There are only two ways.
Spectating a Friend
To Spectate a friend, first, you must join that friend’s Lobby. Then, they must be at least 30 seconds in the match (you cannot Spectate while they’re in the Battle Bus) before the Watch button becomes available. Just click on it and you’re good to go.
Spectating a Non-Friend
The only option of Spectating strangers is when you are eliminated from the match. When you are taken down, you will have the option to Spectate the enemy that eliminated you. When they are eliminated in turn, you can spectate the player who eliminated them, and so on and so on, until only one is left standing.
There are no other ways of spectating in Fortnite at the moment. We can only hope that Epic will come up with a more general Spectating option that cannot be abused for cheating.
