Fortnite Fans Want More Weapons and Epic May Be Bringing One Back From Chapter 1

The fans of Fortnite have had strong opinions on how Chapter 4 Season 3 is shaping up. Yet over the first few days of the Season, a lot of rumors have been circling the community. In that same vein, another rumor has cropped up, courtesy of HYPEX on Twitter. It seems possible that a fan-favorite weapon that we haven’t seen in a long time may be returning to the loot cache near you. It’s big, bold, and loud — it’s the Minigun!
The Rumored Return of the Backpack Minigun to Fortnite
Of course, all rumors should be taken with a grain of salt, but HYPEX has been a fairly reliable source so far. Here’s how they’ve described the possible new weapon in their tweet:
“Assault Weapon: A heavy weapon with high damage, an extreme rate of fire, and a huge magazine size. Very inaccurate unless aiming down sights from a fixed position, and firing in short bursts.”
That can describe nothing else except the Minigun, right? Released with Patch 2.4, the last time we saw it in pub play was back in Patch 13.00 after which it was vaulted. If it does return, we have to wonder will the stats and usability remain the same. However, it’s possible that Epic Games might first tweak the weapon a little bit before unleashing it in Fortnite Wilds.
The fan reaction to the possibility of Minigun’s return ranges from amused to excited. It looks like everyone likes this weapon, though as PlutoV2 puts it: “Yeah you ain’t building through that”. As you may recall, this refers to the Minigun’s absolutely devastating effect on structures. It can tear through them like they’re made out of paper.
Some players are already conspiring to use it to meme on others. For instance, taking a quad group all armed with the Minigun. You can only imagine the havoc that could wreak in a match.
With this rumor, along with the possibility of improved mobility and the leaked new MK-Alpha AR, it looks like Season 3 can only get better after a rocky start. The fan response has been gradually more positive, so it seems that Epic is doing something right. If this trend continues, Fortnite may be looking at another winning Season.
