Fortnite Fans Heartbroken With Latest Removal From the Map

Fortnite chapter 4 season 3 new map

The new Season 3 Chapter 4 in Fortnite is dubbed Fortnite Wilds celebrating the addition of dense jungles to the battle royale island. The updated map was leaked by HYPEX on Twitter, sparking discussion between players.

These alleged changes have split the fanbase, with some welcoming the shakeup, while others lament at the potential loss of some of their favorite points of interest and landing zones.

Fan Reaction to Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 3 Map Changes

One of the main points of contention between players is the question: were there too many changes or not enough? As always, this depends on the player’s personal point of view.

Many players are happy that their favorite POIs may be left untouched. “[My] landing spot survived!” is a common reaction from those that are happy with the leaked map. Snow zone is among contentious points, but plenty of players are happy that there’s now less of it.

On the other hand, players who seek variety wanted more changes to other parts of the unofficial map, even though there’s a whole new jungle biome to explore. Those dubious about the new jungles raise a point when it comes to the permanently foggy nature of the new biome.

trOOth via Reddit wrote “I’m curious how thick that perma-fog is gonna be. I can see that getting really annoying during an intense battle if you can’t see who is who in the mist and may end up hiding light grey or white colored skins as well”.

The Loss of Anvil Square

The main criticism is Anvil Square, the POI from the northern snowy region on the map may be removed. There are many “RIP Anvil” reactions that Epic has to take notice. There are more popular ideas on what should’ve been removed, like this post from @Eldablin:  “Why keep the citadel but remove anvil”. Evidently, the loss of Anvil Square is going to be a sore spot for a large part of the community.

It’s interesting that while the reactions on Twitter are split right down the middle, the crowd on Reddit seems to be much more receptive to the rumoured changes. This just serves to show that you can’t always trust one source when it comes to such a large player base.

When a game’s as huge as Fortnite, it’s hard to cater to everyone when you change things up. The new Season offers plenty of opportunities for fun in the new biome — new flora and fauna, weapons, mud-sliding, and swinging on vines. Not to mention that you can ride raptors, which is probably the best part. There is also a whole new Battle Pass to look forward to.

With that said, what are your opinions about the new map? Do you like the changes or do you think that Epic missed the mark? Let us know in the comments or on any of our social media listed below.
