Sony Take Note: the Xbox One is Ready for a Fight

Everyone heard the new yesterday that the Xbox One is receiving a $50 price cut for the holiday. There is no doubt that it will have a ripple effect on the purchase plans of many parents, but it wont just be a price cut that has people clamoring for the Xbox One over the PlayStation 4. For Sony, while they had a great run out of the gate and impressive, even unprecedented, sales to start the console cycle the lack of games is beginning to hurt. What used to be dominated by Sony in terms of exclusive titles has fallen by the way side and the system is looking into the teeth of the likes of games like Sunset Overdrive, the upcoming Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Quantum Break, and Halo 5.

Lol, it's not all about exclusives you know, COD, LBP3, AC:Unity, GTA5, Farcry 4, Dragon Age: Inquisition, The Crew.

Sony's 2015 line-up is out of this world as well, The Order, Bloodborne, Uncharted 4, No Man's Sky, Wild plus a handful more.

Judging from game sales this year so far, the PS4 has always fared better with multiplats and will continue to do so.

Ballsack3467d ago (Edited 3467d ago )

What a ridiculous article... Not even a year in... As a gaming author he listed the upcoming games for xbox next year.. Yet seemingly forgets that sony has more exclusives so far launching next year than microsoft.

Starting from a February next year Sony has a steady stream of exclusives throughout the year.

The price cut for the xbox is what might hurt sony not games ,if microsoft lose November and December its all over especially seeing the exclusives sony have next year.

HaveSumNuts3467d ago (Edited 3467d ago )

The holdiday bundles have the perfect price point $350 with a newly released free game (2 games if you get the AC bundle). The Xbox One has been the weaker console from the start and it should have been priced cheaper to begin with. I can't help but lol at early adopters who payed $500. Kinect they said, it was necessary they said, it will be useful they said.

SoapShoes3467d ago

The author also forgot that while the PS4 was getting exclusives all year the X1 had nothing from TitanFall to Forza Horizon 2. People don't make their purchases based off a few months alone. Sheesh.

Muzikguy3467d ago

I'm inclined to agree with @somenuts. This price cut does nothing more than PROVE how much MS was ripping off their customers. Since they've dropped Kinect it has been nothing but price cut after price cut

Fight? Sony threw down the gauntlet early this morning with the 2.0 update and a true next gen capability called Share Play. That feature is a game changer. It is a shot across the bow and a direct hit midship in the waterline.

Why o why3467d ago (Edited 3467d ago )

Yep Morgan

I've even seen some make comments about shareplay and the feature ms were touting along wi5h that drm bs. What was bad was the defence force continued to spout how they had lost out because ms couldn't implement said features without drm and always online check ins and what not.

Sony is showing us that you don't need to give up your rights to innovate in the console market.

sonarus3467d ago

PS4 launched almost a yr ago same as Xbox one. Microsoft has removed kinnect to price match with PS4 bought exclusives, bundled games. Their titan fell and a yr later they are still far behind.

This price drop is a desperate one. You can agree or disagree but how many times does a console price need to drop in a yrs time before eyes open and see it as desperate.

MS has tried everything while sony has just kept going business as usual. But lets pretend that ms hasnt tried everything to close the gap. Lets pretend THIS $50 price cut is the real shrewd move from microsoft geniuses that will knock sony on its back. All the bundle stuff they were doing before was just for fun

donthate3467d ago (Edited 3467d ago )

morgan:

"Fight? Sony threw down the gauntlet early this morning with the 2.0 update and a true next gen capability called Share Play. That feature is a game changer. It is a shot across the bow and a direct hit midship in the waterline. "

It truly is a next generation feature, so much so that all the people that is going to use it, the vast majority won't have the internet connection to enjoy it. It will be like youtube videos with heavy compression artifacts, and a 2 second controller latency.

If anything, remote play is a better feature. At least it has a use case that works for many in the home on a private network.

If you think PS Now is bad, wait until you try SharePlay. That feature is as gimmicky as they come.

morganfell3467d ago (Edited 3467d ago )

@donthate,

I already use PSNow and it works great with no lag. I just tried Share Play before I made that first comment and verifired what even the most prominent Sony haters have been saying:

http://n4g.com/news/1611327...

You should peruse the top of the N4G page before you type such ridiculous tripe. It might save you the embarassment and loss of face you are suffering now. Look at the remarks of all the sites that have tested it. It works. It isn't a gimmick, its real, and it does what it says it will do. And much to your chagrin, it is something the Xbox One cannot do. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

BTW, I have read you comment history, seen your rampant Sony hate, and I realize your remark is the result of fear, jealousy, and rage. Now get the hell back under your bridge.

@Why o why,

Dead bang on the money.

GameNameFame3467d ago

With temporary exclusive that goes multiplat in 6 months.

Yea. I am ok.

donthate3467d ago

fell:

did I hurt your feelings? Seems like it!

"You should peruse the top of the N4G page before you type such ridiculous tripe."

No, this are the real people using it having issues:

http://www.reddit.com/r/PS4...

As I said, I got a symmetrical 15 Mbps line so I would minor issues, but the vast majority will have sh!t experience.

"And much to your chagrin, it is something the Xbox One cannot do. Put that in your pipe and smoke it."

It's a gimmicky feature, so I would definitely smoke it away. I rather not hope other platform holders are wasting their time on it.

"BTW, I have read you comment history, seen your rampant Sony hate, and I realize your remark is the result of fear, jealousy, and rage."

Are you sure it isn't you whom are being insecure and fearful of the truth?

I'm pretty sure you are angry, because I am speaking truth and it is in the open!

It's a gimmicky feature that won't work well due to the current state of internet infrastructure for a very large portion of users.

Heck, PS Now works better and even that is pure sh!t at the moment. Anyhow, enjoy your game with video compression artifacts and 2 second controller latency, but hey graphics matter and it is in 1080p blocky video!

morganfell3467d ago (Edited 3467d ago )

Hurt? Ha ha ha ha ha. You are the one that came in here on a boohoo fest with the fear of Share Play motivating you to try and downplay it's massive impact. You are the one that started trying to attack something you know in your bones is a gamechanger.

It scares you doesn't it.

Of course. Your own words verify that fact. Resorting to non-technical attacks laced with adolescent vulgarity speaks volumes about your frustration.

It obviously worries you.

It should.

While you are swearing (literally) it won't work on a platform you do not own, you had better inform all of the game sites and PS4 users that are having a different experience from that for which you are feverishly praying. I and plenty of others on Share Play are happy to disappoint you.

I am using Share Play and know firsthand how well it works. You are standing outside the party with no ticket to get in. With your mug pressed against the glass you are staring through the window hoping the food they are serving isn't as good as it looks. Well it is.

No, your dreams of Sony failing with this feature are utterly crushed and ground underfoot. Just so much fodder. You are just another Sony hater that was wrong. Shouldn't you be online enjoying your own version of social game sharing...oh wait...

Like everything else yoiu didn't read the thread you posted. Hahahaha thanks for the ammunition. An issue here and there with plenty of people talking about how it worked with no issues. I love self pwnage. It's pretty obvious karma knows where you live.

indyman77773467d ago

I agree this article is ridiculous. He even has the nerve to say Microsoft has own up to there mistakes, each and every one of them. Is that so, well why are Microsoft fan boys still in denial that they would not be able to lend there games, or play offline, or sale there game without paying a fee to sale your own game! Because Microsoft just brushed it under the table instead of owning up to them.

Not enough for you blind fan boys? Well consider this ALL THE POLICIES that Microsoft insinuated they didnt have. They now officially have in CHINA with there recent launch in China. See, the reason they did it in China is because they can! They had no freedom even to buy a game system for more than a decade! So now they are desperate, and Microsoft knows it. So now Microsoft is taking advantage of them. But, because African, Americans, and Europeans stood up to them (except the die hard blind fools). Micosoft reverse plans in other countries.

Once PS4 comes on the scene in Japan I'm sure Chinese will jump all over it! And Microsoft will wonder once again why people are against them.

its_JEFF3466d ago

Sony take note... they did that years before the PS4 was even released and the current state of this gen is the result. The same way MS took note of how the PS2 was doing, even cut the life span of the OG Xbox short to take it to Sony.

Take note...

calis3466d ago

Boy, people have short memories. The PS3 had the same "no games" call early in life and by the end it completely embarrassed the 360.

jebabcock3466d ago

There are some things a price drop just can't fix..

NukaCola3466d ago

Sony is still the number one console selling this generation. Regardless of games, sales, deal, bundles, and bullcrap....

The PS4 is the number one selling system. And the line up this holiday is not budged by a couple games on the Xbone. Both systems will sell well, but the PS4 momentum is moving without any notion of stopping.

Yes Quantum Break and HALO 5 are coming next year....But so is UNCHARTED the world record holder for most awards in a trilogy series which is nearly if not over 400. Plus they have paced out many great games to come in the early year.,

Kidmyst3466d ago

So if you don't care for Halo, then what? I like the Xbone COD version for the paint job, but I'm getting COD for PC anyways. I still can't find why I'd spend $350.oo for a console for 1 or 2 games, when the others I'll get exclusive content on the PS4 version or can play it on PC. Titanfall got old quick, Sunset Overdrive looks fund but not enough to buy a system for and Quantum Break looks good. But again if that's the only game I really want is it worth $400 unless for $350 I get it free? My opinion anyone who buys the Halo MCC can not complain about those who buy "the same game" for new COD releases. You are buying Halo you have already played just prettier.

halo 5 will be the killer game

the_dark_one3467d ago

eeeeehhhhhhhhh NO! its going to be good as always, but one game isnt going to kill it for anyone. besides many of the people waiting for halo 5 are probably going to buy the console now in nov for TMCC and many others that already bought it for halo 5 anyway.

metatronx3467d ago

:P Halo didn't kill Sony last gen, did it?

Revengeance3467d ago

Uncharted 4 says otherwise

jspsc1233467d ago

im more excited for MCC than i am halo 5.

Miraak82 3467d ago

Never really been a CoD player but Adavanced Warfare is gonna take a big dump on halo ... system seller no matter the system

5eriously3467d ago

What will be on the horizon after Halo? So far avery so called turning point touted became a very sour reality!

DigitalRaptor3467d ago (Edited 3467d ago )

The Master Chief Collection will be the measure.

Halo is the only franchise that can help Xbox outsell PlayStation in any given month. But still… even a recovering (and faster selling) PS3 couldn't be stopped by Halo when the Xbox brand was at the top of its game. If MCC doesn't help Xbone outsell PS4 in November, that's it…. Xbox will NEVER, EVER outsell the PS4, and the gap will widen even more quickly.

Heck, The Last of Us sold 7 million units as a new IP. Naughty Dog is now a household name. The first PS4 Uncharted game will easily compete with Halo 5.

PS4's 2015 lineup is absolutely killer. Diverse, interesting, amazing, and regular. Xbone lineup is sparse until the holidays… yet again. I can now see why Phil Spencer is going for so many timed exclusive deals when you compare what both companies have lined up for 2015 and beyond. It's crazy.

XanderZane3467d ago

Halo pretty much outsold all of the PS3 exclusives last year and had many AAAE scores. It'll most likely do the same thing on the XB1. Uncharted is a great game, but it has never sold like Halo 5. The price cut will definitely move more systems. It will probably do great in the US. Too bad Europe isn't getting this deal. Probably because Europe has no respect for M$.

BlackTar1873466d ago

@XanderZane

Are you adding up all 13 of the halos that came out last gen to 3 Uncharteds?

Exactly the only reason the Xbox has exclusives this year is because Sony studios were busy pumping exclusives for the ps3 the last few years. Next year will be a different story where they'll be pumping exclusives left and right.
On topic though, I'm curious to see how Microsoft does this holiday. They've done everything they can to make the Xbox one an appealing purchase. If Sony manages to outsell them again then they can just forget about beating them.

AutoCad3467d ago

Actually Kaz has said many times that Sony will pump out less exclsuives on the system because of how much it cost to fund,Also, said that only like 3/10 or something like that actually make a profit.

LeCreuset3467d ago

@AutoCad

You're intentionally conflating two out of context comments to spread FUD.

The first comment referred to his belief that the industry, as a whole, will produce less AAA's.

The second comment was talking about how Sony is willing to invest in exclusives others might not, for diversity's sake, even though a good number of them aren't that profitable.

Notice how that second point runs counter to your Sony producing less exclusives FUD.

jrshankill3466d ago (Edited 3466d ago )

If a developer wants the highest bidder to make a game console exclusive, Sony will lose out everytime. They simply do not have the money to compete against MS.

http://www.gamespot.com/art...

2.1 BILLION projected losses. Those kind of losses could close other companies. Do you think Sony can drop the price of PS4 to compete with Xbox One? I doubt it.

Xbox One's price drop is actually a brilliant move. MS is pretty much forcing Sony to lower the price of their console to uncomfortable territories. Sony can't afford to sell their consoles any cheaper, and have to seriously rely on a brilliant holiday season if they do drop the price. Problem is, Sunset Overdrive and Halo MCC are the biggest exclusives running into Christmas, and with the price cut on bundles, I know which console I would buy if I didn't already own both.

I think MS is seeing now if Sony will take the bait and lower the price. It is awesome for us as consumers.. aggressive price cuts means cheaper gear for us. Sony's failed mobile market strategy is primarily to blame.

No matter how many consoles are sold, Sony are still counting their losses into next year. If it comes down to cash in hand for an exclusive, MS can simply offer developers more money.

mediate-this3466d ago

Did you say p snow works great?? Lol, lie of the century. Psn own is garbage, looks like garbage and equally plays as such. Street fighter 4 is unplayable on psnow.

To be honest people have been saying this since the kinnectless Xbone was announced. I'm still waiting for when this fight is supposed to start. All I can see is PS4 domination

Anon19743467d ago

Yeah, I gotta say, shouldn't the deals, bundles and Kinectless sku had a sales impact by now? Honestly, the XBox One has been receiving all kinds of deals this past year, and the price dropped when they unbundled Kinect failed to have much of an impact.

Why would anyone believe that yet another deal is going to somehow magically reverse the Xbox One's fortunes against the PS4?

LeCreuset3467d ago

Yeah. The whole "ready for a fight" rhetoric sounds good, but if the fight already started a year ago, that's a lot of catching up to do on the scorecards.

AngelicIceDiamond3467d ago

"Lol, it's not all about exclusives you know,"

Maybe not but in the past 3 years before the new consoles came out it certainly was.

I mean that's all that mattered on here was exclusives. Not indie arcade and 3rd party was even getting shafted here.

Only when Xbox doesn't have the exclusive quanity is when it matters. But when they do have the exclusives its suddenly not all about the exclusives.

I'm not talking specifically at you Snipe but I hate it when people suddenly change the rules now. (which tend to be fanboys)

Its both, 3rd party should be hitting and performing well on the consoles and 1st party is very important to make your console unique and different and a game that you can't get no where else.

Like I said its all important. But lets not change the rules now that MS is not only coming harder, but investing in 1st party more than its last two systems.

Gority3467d ago

To be fair, MS does have the better holiday exclusive lineup... But technically Sunset is their first $60 exclusive. Ryse came to PC, DR3 to PC, Forza was on 360. People forget this as well when touting X1's exclusive lineup for this holiday so it definitely goes both ways.

Sony has had multiple exclusives up until this point. Are they worth buying a PS4 for? Probably not for most, but same can be said for X1 to this point.

LeCreuset3467d ago

"I'm not talking specifically at you Snipe but I hate it when people suddenly change the rules now."

If you're not talking specifically at Snipe, then why are you using Snipe's comment to make a general statement about "fanboys" changing "the rules?"

Automatic793467d ago

@AngeliclceDiamond

Thank you, i have been saying that all along now that MS has solid hits all of sudden 3rd party games greater on PS4, last I looked I am still playing Shadow of Mordor, Evil Within same game and just got Sunset Overdrive Exclusive. What's all the hate about.

chrismichaels043467d ago (Edited 3467d ago )

@MichaelLito - don't be a hypocrite. Don't forget to mention how you spent the entire PS3/Xbox 360 generation saying "exclusives don't matter, sales are more important". Now you're completely flip flopping your opinion. Come on dude, you can't have it both ways based on which makes Playstation look weak and Xbox look strong.

Chevalier3466d ago (Edited 3466d ago )

http://www.listwar.com/rele...

Where is this huge disparity? They seem pretty equal for 1st party releases so far. Into next year Sony is releasing Tearaway, Uncharted, Bloodborne, Order 1886, Until Dawn and Ratchet and Clank. MS will release Fable Legends, Halo 5, Quantum Break, but, Crackdown and Gears seem to be 2016 at earliest with Sony releasing far more new IP's and more 3rd party support by a longshot.

1st party
Sony

MLB 14
Infamous
Killzone

As it stands Sony busting Microsofts %ss has caused them to take notes and heed gamers which is good but Sony is doing just fine and ive enjoyed most of their exclusive, like right now im enjoying Drive Club contrary to the bs you hear on here.

By guys im running home to shareplay some games, now thats revolutionary and Microsoft the big bad software company should take note owwwwww as Sony is beating them at their own game lol

SniperControl3467d ago

I was actually playing Lords of the Fallen via shareplay myself.

Shareplay is amazing feature, i didn't notice any lag, the 720p picture looked good, if slightly blurry, but overall very good feature.

SquillieDeeWilliams3467d ago

I've been sharing games on X1 with my roomate since launch day. $60, 2 copies. You can even play them at the same time. all digital X1 games come with 2 licenses. just sayin'...

lelo2play3467d ago (Edited 3467d ago )

We have to praise Microsoft for their X1 exclusive line-up at the end of this year (Project Spark, Sunset Overdrive, Halo, Forza, Killer Instinct, D4), but I don't think Microsoft has a big exclusive to release on the first 6 months of 2015 (until E3)... none that I remember, but I might be wrong.
Sony has at least 2 big PS4 exclusives for first 6 months of 2015: Bloodborne and The Order.

Automatic793467d ago

@Lelo

MS has said all along that they are this year focusing on 2014. Just cause they haven't announced a new title for 1st Quarter 2015 doesn't mean they don't have games ready.

By the way here is 2015 list with no confirmed dates

Fable Legends
Quantum Break
Dungeons and Dragon Neverwinter
TombRaider 2
Halo Guardians
Scalebound
Crackdown
State of Decay
Smite
Below
SuperHot
Inside
Forza Motorsport 6 ???
D4

I think its fair to say Xbox One will have games sometime in first or second Quarter.

DigitalRaptor3467d ago (Edited 3467d ago )

@ MichaelLito79

That's pretty hopeful of you.

Microsoft has only indies for Q1 & Q2 (first 6 months): ScreamRide, State of Decay, Inside.

Fable Legends - likely a late summer game.
Quantum Break - most reliable insider out there has dated September for this.
Neverwinter - June is the current date, but Xbox One version may not even launch next to PC version.
Tomb Raider 2 - Holiday 2015.
Halo 5 - Holiday 2015.
Scalebound - be realistic… 2016
Crackdown - be realistic… 2016
Forza 6 - Holiday 2015, pretty clearly.
D4 - sold like poop, no indication or guarantee there will even be more episodes produced (from the horse's mouth).

I think it's fair to say that Xbox One will not have games in the first or second quarter that can anywhere near compare to the lineup PS4 has in the same time frame, or even throughout the year.

Of all the indies you mention, not only does Sony have far larger and more ambitious ones lined up for their platform (No Man's Sky, RiME, Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, The Witness, SOMA, ABZU), but also over double (heck I'd say triple) the smaller indies. For every game you list, Sony has an equal and then some.

Lelo said that Microsoft doesn't really have any BIG exclusives in the first 6 months and he's not wrong.

XanderZane3467d ago

Quantum Break will be out in Feb or Mar in 2015. That game looks incredible. Bloodborne looks great for the PS4, but The Order may not be anything special. I think that game is overhyped just like DriveClub was.

gangsta_red3467d ago

"Lol, it's not all about exclusives you know,"

Holy mother of god! ... I seriously would have never of thought I'd see the day when the Sony crowd says that MULTIPLATS matter and that it's not all about the exclusives. And the agrees climbing is staggering for that comment. Not only that but now sales matter?!

It's like Bizarro world on N4G.

And then we have this gem from Dboy:

"Exactly the only reason the Xbox has exclusives this year is because Sony studios were busy pumping exclusives for the ps3 the last few years.."

That is just as funny of an excuse as the one where most use to say that the reason PS exclusives didn't sell well is because you have so many of them to choose from.

What's so funny is the reason Xbox has exclusives is because they were ramping up studios, production and 3rd parties to make such a wide variety of games for this year. And they have all their real 1st party studios still making games for release next year, so that means we will still have more exclusives ready to go for 2015.

Not to mention MS is still supporting the 360 with cross platform titles this year...more so than Sony which is strange since a lot of folks on here said MS would abandon the 360 once their new system came out. But in a crazy twist of science MS actually supported it more than Sony has their own system, with them relying on 3rd parties for exclusives.

Once again all last gen we kept hearing "play games not sales" or "wait until next year" (every year) for PS3 to catch up to 360. My, my, how we forget our roots and past teachings when on top for the moment.

MysticStrummer3467d ago

Meanwhile, through the year PS4 has released more games overall and a comparable number of exclusives. PS4 owners are in fact playing games not sales.

As for "Wait until…", that's been the XB1 fanboy theme song all year. Wait until Titanfall. Wait until lower price without Kinect. Then it was wait until Forza Horizon 2. Now it's wait until Halo.

kickerz3467d ago

Are u serious mystic? Sony guys have talked about sales non stop this whole year to the point it's just annoying.
Also Titanfall was fun and forza horizon was awesome not sure I know what your getting at. We haven't been waiting for greatness.

Stogz3467d ago

Please explain to me how MS has been supporting the 360 more than Sony? Is that how they released only Forza Horizon 2 this fall? Kinda like how Sony is releasing LBP3 this fall for PS3? Seems completely even to me, sounds like you should do a little research before talking out of your @ss...

Inception3467d ago

"Not to mention MS is still supporting the 360 with cross platform titles this year more so than Sony"

sigh...to say MS supporting 360 more than Sony did with PS3 this year is very delusional.

1) Last year MS ALMOST COMPLETELY ABANDON 360, where Sony pouring a lot of 1st party exclusive for PS3 (GOW: Ascension, Sly Cooper, TloU, Beyond 2 Souls, Pupeteer, Rain, GT6, etc). But why i didn't see you complaining MS at that time???

2) This year Sony 1st party got LBP 3, MLB 14, Hohokum, and Helldivers for PS3. A bit dry yes, but MS only got 2 cross platform for 360, Titanfall & FH 2. If you called 2 cross platform "more supporting" than please i want to taste what your smoke right now.

3) Also, PS3 still received a lot of amazing 3rd party exclusive such as Tales of Xillia, Tales of Zestiria, Disgaea D2, BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma, Jojo's Bizzare Adv All Star, Drakengard 3, FF X / X-2 HD. Not to mention 3rd party cross platform with PS4 such as Yakuza Ishin, Yakuza 0, Persona 5, Guilty Gear Xrd, Samurai Warriors 4, etc. FYI, all those games doesn't exist for 360.

Does the gaming media not think Sony could drop the price $50 also for holiday season?

kenshiro1003466d ago

But why would they? The PS4 has been crushing the XB1 as of late.

Patrick_pk443467d ago

Agreed. The lineup for the PS4 isn't strong in 2014, since all their main games are pushed back to 2015, which will be Sony's year. You can argue the lineup is weak this year, but it is selling more than its competitors who have a strong lineup of games in 2014. Meaning sales will increase even more in 2015.

otherZinc3467d ago (Edited 3467d ago )

@SniperControl,

What happens when PSN goes down on your PS4? XBOX Live will still be working:see Drive Club not working, meanwhile, Forza Horizon 2 is working online.

In 2015:
XBOX ONE has a killer line up also: Quantum Break, Tomb Raider, & Halo 5 Guardians = Game Over!

Those are 3 AAA exclusives that are of the highest quality!

SniperControl3467d ago

I do actually own a X1 and FH2 and what has the PSN being down got to do with article?

I am not dissing X1's 2015 line-up, i am really looking forward to QB and Halo 5, but to say game over when The Order, Bloodbourne and Uncharted are equally AAA exclusives.

Tomb Raider is only exclusive "Holiday 2015" by the way.

DigitalRaptor3467d ago (Edited 3467d ago )

Think for a good while about what you just said.

Xbox One has a killer lineup also… that you have to wait 10 months to play. Hardly "Game Over" when PS4 has an even more killer lineup that lasts more than 3 months. PS4's 2015 lineup which is a strong mix of pixel-art indie games like Titan Souls, Hotline Miami 2, OlliOlli 2 and Cosmic Star Heroine, large scale and ambitious independent games like RiME, No Man's Sky, SOMA, The Tomorrow Children, WiLD, independent AAA games like Hellblade from Ninja Theory, and full AAA games like Bloodborne, The Order: 1886, Persona 5, Uncharted 4, Tearaway Unfolded, Ratchet & Clank and many more.

Now THAT is more like a "Game Over" screen.

And $349 X1 isn't a very good deal when you consider the kinect is $150. The system should be $299.99 before you can say it's a good deal. In the event you want to get a Kinect it will be most likely a $100 standalone.

Kingdomcome2473467d ago

You really think it should be the same price as the WiiU? The WiiU is great, but I have to disagree with that.

Pogmathoin3467d ago

We are here at N4G towers ready to fight with you Sir Sony!

Azzanation3467d ago (Edited 3467d ago )

All those games u mentioned apart from one ib LBP3 which is also on PS3 are all available on the X1 and now that the console is cheaper people will buy the better deal. 2014 will favour the X1 this holiday due to games/Bundles and price point.

geddesmond3467d ago

LOL at the part where he said PS4 having no exclusives is starting to hurt and then he goes on to mention 4 X1 exclusives. 1 of which won't be released til next fall and the other mid 2015.

No mention of Bloodeborne or The order thats 4 months away and seeing as he used an exclusive for X1 that is over a year away well why not throw in UC4.

Are people really throwing in the exclusive card even though they know Sony owns over a Dozen first party devs that are working on 2-3 games at a time? Oh and lets forget all the third party devs who confirmed work on PS4 exclusives and thats not even including indies as we all know the word indiestation 4 is getting used a lot.

But funny enough PS4 owners can't use indies as exclusives but X1 owners can. Propaganda at its best.

No doubt the X1 will sell much better with deals that offer 2 free games for 350. But you know this could have a negative impact as well. For instance the sale doesn't start til november so have people stopped buying now until then to save money. Does it also mean when the deal ends will people stop buying and just wait for the next deal MS throws? because its not the first or second sale they have thrown.

Well one thing is definitely for sure. If MS doesn't outsell Sony in the states this holiday season then they are in big trouble for the future.

Joey_Leone3467d ago (Edited 3467d ago )

LOL i wouldn't be surprised if the PlayStation4 still outsells the XBOXONE, lower the price of the XBOXONE to $199.99 with the a 1tb HDD, 1 free +AAA exclusive and a 1 year of XBOX live then MAYBE just MAYBE you will have a chance to sell the system.

WiiUsauce3467d ago

Nothing in that lineup of exclusives is "out of this world" lol

avengers19783466d ago

How does the auThor know the price cut has people clamoring for the XB1, only sales will prove that.
If PS4 wins November and December NPD than what?

NoDucks3466d ago

I point you to the Amazon sales charts. Xbox One bundles hold 9th, 12th, 46th, 56th. PS4 has 12th plaCE and that's it. So Xbox is selling loads better now. http://www.amazon.com/best-...

VforVideogames3466d ago

Wow look at all this Sony supporters defending a console that at the moment has no games and online is broken, and this is why I have both XboxOne and Ps4, my xbox is getting all the use this year while my ps4 its covered with 2 inches of dust, but next year if sony brings greatness it will be ps4' turn, fingers crossed.

ey Sony doesnt have to do much, they've released pretty much nothing and its selling like hotcakes.

what makes you think thats going to change?

all they have to do this holiday is offer a cheap GTA V bundle for $400 and be set.

lemoncake3467d ago

At this point they don't even need to offer a cheap bundle, they could charge more and people would still run out and buy it, Microsoft is always the underdog.

This opinion piece is interesting. If we’re gonna talk about exclusives then you need to make note of the games that are ONLY on Xbox One and vice versa for the Playstation 4. It will surprise you that doing so will lead you with more exclusives on the Playstation 4 system. If you want to branch it out and include cross generation games; Playstation 4 still has a good lineup and more games thus far. I personally feel the last push for a boost in sales this holiday will be between CoD:AW, Halo: MCC, and the GTA5/LB3 releases coming out in November and December.

As far as Microsoft’s different selection of consoles; All of them are appealing. When I watched the video with Yusif and Phil talking about the different selections and the price drop, i was impressed. Microsoft is making many moves that cater for the gamer that makes it difficult not to buy their X1 this holiday. We still have November and December left in 2014. It will be a bloodbath. I’m interested to see what move Microsoft and Sony will make on BlackFriday.

Ju3467d ago

It's advertising. Of course it looks good - or they make it look good. And yet, CoD and Unity will run better on the PS4. MS holds it back by having exclusive marketing deals - and that's what you see. But what you gonna do if you are actually in the store and see the exact same games on the "other" console.

Besides, Sony can still market the sh!t out of the Destiny or FC4 or DC or other bundles, as long it gets screen time and people realize there is another console those MS games are just another bunch of games, nothing more.

What's left is a good looking but unproven new IP - Sunset Overdrive and Halo (and maybe Forza); but none other then Halo moves boxes - well, and we'll see how Halo will manage for a remake. Basically no real mover there, IMO.

"For Sony, while they had a great run out of the gate and impressive, even unprecedented, sales to start the console cycle the lack of games is beginning to hurt."

http://media3.giphy.com/med...

"While many called out Microsoft early on because of the $100 price discrepancy between the two with the decision for Microsoft to include the Kinect no one wanted, Sony now must be the one facing the scrutiny for the higher prices and lack of offers."

http://www.reactiongifs.com...

"Instead, they will find a response, but should that response not come soon their large gap in sales differentials will be seeing a heavy blow during the holidays. The biggest thing Sony must do is give people a reason again to buy a PlayStation 4 over the Xbox One."

http://i977.photobucket.com...

"Microsoft wasn’t ever going to just roll over in the console war. They were never going to just pave the way for Sony to a monopoly. They were just simply biding their time, and learning from their mistakes. They have owned each and everyone of them, and like everything in the news, people have forgotten most of what put them in the hole to begin with."

I have no idea what the author is trying to convey...

Think positive thoughts and good things will happen type of thing?

I dunno...

SniperControl3467d ago

As i read the article, the little voice in my head was saying "we got ourselves a fanboy here son", i own both consoles so am looking forward to Q4 2014 & Q1 2015, but to say Sony has a lack of exclusives is just tunnel vision on the authors part.

Muzikguy3467d ago (Edited 3467d ago )

I'm not sure what the author is getting at either. I won't ever forget what MS was trying to do at the beginning of this gen, or all that. Kinect talk, or the focus on TV. Albeit I wasnr going to buy an X1 but all that made it that much easier. So even with this price cut I'm thinking different than what MS is. They're trying to undercut in price to make the system look more appealing. PS1 PS2 and PS3 weren't the cheapest and I owned all of those. There's nothing appealing IMO about overpriced and underpowered consoles. He's right about not wanting Kinect though and if you were to ask me, it shouldn't have taken this long to realize it. More like they wanted the easy $ by selling a gimmick that won't get used

I doubt with all this that Xbox has going for it that Sony is just going to sit there with their thumbs up their asses. FW 2.0 adds a lot of things to their alas I'm actually more pleased that I thought I'd be. There's a lot of options for all kinds of things now, and they added mouse support. I hope to see kb&m games on PS4. Ran out of time this morning or I would've checked out the audio player and I don't have many people on my PS4 list so I haven't been able to test out share play but it looks interesting. I need to get a headset now lol
