#GAMECHANGER Now people can stop asking me if a game is good or not :) ill just let them play it for themselves.

Abash3472d ago

This is easily the best new feature of next gen gaming to me, can't wait to play games with my sis who lives far from me and hardly ever has a copy of the games I buy. Now she can try them for herself and see what I enjoy about them

Ripsta7th3472d ago

Best new feature for me is being able to play my own damn songs while i destroy people on Bf4 muahahaha

G20WLY3472d ago (Edited 3472d ago )

Share Play's an amazing feature - most "next gen" thing on any console yet!

To be fair, playing my own music during any game is something I've wanted for a long time too. :)

@Ripsta7th, G20WLY

Just curious, you guys have no other way to listen to music other then waiting for a update on your PS4? There is so many external sources to play music while gaming its isn't funny. Stereo, Boombox, PC/Laptop, Tablet and Cellphone. And with a 5 dollar splitter you can split it to your headphones and have game sound and music.

I understand the slight convenience of it, but if your a true music fan there is no reason not to be listening to music while you play now.

PONTIAC08G8GT3471d ago

I actually think it's more of a pain in the a$$ to play your music using your gaming system. Song comes on you dont feel like listening too, gotta to to music player and change it. If you just played it through your home stereo or sound dock, whatever, you just hit 1 button and your switched.

Maybe I'm weird but I actually don't like playing music while I'm playing a game, especially like BF where I want to hear someone's foot steps or something going on.

Themes and Improvements to the What's New Menu is what i'm really excited about! I hope they changed a lot.

ZombieKiller3472d ago

Damn this system software looks awesome! Apart from the damn DLNA player (which I have a PS3 for) they pretty much took care of any gripes I had. Apart from the Turtle Beach support which was handled with a cable, I am VERY happy to be a PS4 owner.....AND RIGHT IN TIME FOR GRAND THEFT F----ING AUTO! WIN WIN!

joab7773472d ago

It says stream vid and music from internet. Can u still not stream over ur network. C'mon Sony, xbone just got dlna.

Though being able to play a game u don't own is pretty nice. And immediately being able to stream or upload a vid to youtube or twitch is gigantic.

mark3214uk3472d ago (Edited 3472d ago )

cant wait

ramiuk13472d ago

thats a cool feature yes but we dont fully know the issues or limitations yet.

the library folder has annoyed me becaause i knew the folder would be all the way to the far side,so will have to flick past everything whicxh makes the folder pointless.
I wanted folders SONY,not one. i want to make my own

pompous3472d ago

Lol... Sorry you're wrong. We do know the limitations. Sony has come out and explained it already. Use the internet and you'll find the answer.

sensor213472d ago

Sony's track record has me like believe it when I see it. Will update brick system ? Will other features get lost or stop functioning ? Will shareplay work ?

MRMagoo1233472d ago

I am sure the usual 2 or 3 people will have a dead system after they update, I am also pretty sure that it will make top news as well as if it's a wide spread problem.

The thing is I know a bunch of people that have ps3s and not one bricked after an update in the 7 years or what ever it was since the console released, that's a lot of lucky people if the updates are as bad as some people try to say they are

Utalkin2me3471d ago (Edited 3471d ago )

@Sensor21

So let me get this straight. So you're questioning Sony on a handful of people with bricked systems from a software updates. But you didn't question MS when the 360 bricked from just playing the thing? Considering you own a Xbox1, your agenda is clear from your previous comments.

@Sensor

Magicite3472d ago

This is actually too good to be true, one person can buy a game and let all his friends try it and then they can decide whether they like it or not.

Muzikguy3472d ago

Definitely a nice feature! I I just hope we aren't overhyping it. I hope it works smoothly and after one hour is up it's easy to rejoin. Also, need some good 2 player games to come out :)

ToastyMcNibbles3472d ago

I'm sure this has been addressed already not sure. Does share play work across all games available or is it a game by game basis?

Cha0tik3472d ago (Edited 3472d ago )

Yeah, this is a remarkable feature. Hopefully they get it right.

@Babyleg - Stop finding reasons to hate and find a argument that doesn't sound like you're hella fanboyish. It's a Co-Op share feature. It doesn't share the entire game so that excuse you used is kinda irrelevant. It doesn't provide the full game.

"The best way to think about Share Play is like a “virtual couch”. PlayStation 4 will create an online local co-op experience by allowing you to invite a friend to join your game—even when they don’t own a copy of it."

drdare3472d ago (Edited 3472d ago )

i'm guessing the release date for this is the day the ps4 came out.

Jaqen_Hghar3472d ago

Hopefully before that. It would stiLl be almost a month away

pompous3472d ago

October 28 it's coming out

spacedelete3472d ago

weres DLNA ? Xbox One you can use casting so you can watch any videos from your phone. Sony taking the PS4 fanbase for granted. they are turning back into Sony 2006 again.

Jaqen_Hghar3472d ago (Edited 3472d ago )

And Sony offers 3d bluray support while MS doesn't. These are such niche features you're talking about that little differences between the consoles make absolutely zero difference in sales to the company. Why would they be so concerned about a random feature when they're focusing on sharing any game you have with a friend for the first time in gaming history digitally and instantaneously on consoles! That's a bit more of a selling point As it should be

Yetter3472d ago

XB1 patched that, they do offer 3D blueray support, and there isn't anything niche about DLNA. It is by far the most used feature on my PS3, 360 and XB1.

Jaqen_Hghar3472d ago

@Yetter

It's more niche than 3d blurays and that's not a feature that's going to be used by most people. DLNA is a foreign term to most that bought the console at least 3d blurays and themes are things everyone knows about. They're going with the bigger issues that more people ask for such as music, themes, shareplay, and more streamlined interface. They can't take care of everything at once nor are they going with your personal preference. There's a reason they're not prioritizing it and that reason is less people asked for it than what they are doing. A man does want that to make it to the console as well but he's looking at this from a business perspective and DLNA is an issue to very, very, VERY few people compared to the stuff that will be in there.

MysticStrummer3472d ago

"there isn't anything niche about DLNA. It is by far the most used feature on my PS3, 360 and XB1."

That's sort of like saying

"There's nothing niche about penguin juggling. I do it all the time!"

MasterCornholio3472d ago (Edited 3472d ago )

Where's Xbox Ones shareplay (aka family share plan)?

Each console has great features. There's no need to bash the PS4 over some petty media streaming feature.

I prefer game streaming over movie streaming BTW.

WickedLester3472d ago

FYI, Sony has already announced that DLNA is coming. It will be the next major update which is currently projected to come out at the beginning of the year.

uth113472d ago

I love DLNA, but it's a common feature and I have several devices that use DLNA so I don't really need it on my PS4.

Shareplay is a unique feature that you can't get anywhere else, so that trumps DLNA

StormLegend3472d ago

Do you really need it? watch videos on your laptop or Phone.

THC CELL3472d ago

I use smart TV for movie streaming and games console for gaming, people I love sony but if u looking to stream films beware some movies block audio, screens and displays some website. Smart TV is by far better than consoles at streaming, no interruptions

HiddenMission3472d ago

@spacedelete

I'm I can do the same with my phone using the playstation app so I'm not sure where you're going with this. If someone is casting from their PS4 anyone can watch...

So what are you doing...trying to troll...not sure here...

Madderz3472d ago (Edited 3472d ago )

He/she was referring to DLNA.

Streaming a film etc that is on your device (phone etc) to your TV via your PS4.

ainTgoTTime2bleed3472d ago

Since you like trolling, imma troll too;)....If you say ''Sony is turning back into 2006 again'' what do you say to : still using AAA batteries in 2014 almost 2015?, or how about using dvds on 360 last gen when this tech was developed in early 90's and first introduced to the public in 1997?....;)

fei-hung3472d ago

DLNA is crap. With Netflix and Showbox etc you are better off just using those instead of DLNA.

Madderz3472d ago

Showbox is a god send.

lonelyplayer3472d ago

It's simple, You can clearly see Microsoft is focused in TV and Sony is focused in gaming. We'll see what strategy is better soon.

WickedLester3472d ago

Judging by console sales, I think we both already know the answer to that.

Jihaad_cpt3472d ago

I have that on my TV don't you... caveman?

ZombieKiller3472d ago (Edited 3472d ago )

Did you spend $500 for a DLNA player? Sorry to hear that...

It will get better ONE day. Right?!

rainslacker3472d ago

I'd imagine DLNA is on any number of devices in someone's home entertainment center if they even know or care what DLNA is.

I will be happy when it's available myself, but the PS3's DLNA player is so robust, I have a feeling that it's going to be a while before the PS4 even has half the features.

In the end though, my blu-ray player has a DLNA player that trumps any console system, so I just use it since it's fully compatible with my logitech remote and has so many codecs that I hardly ever have to transcode a video.

retro_3471d ago

DLNA is what I'm waiting for on my PS4. my home network has everything on it so clearly I want to access it via PS4.

tlougotg3472d ago (Edited 3472d ago )

Omg im happy im seeing the shareplay layout finally with my own eyes and love how it looks like theyve done it. I cant wait to invite ppl to experience mp in uncharted 4 or Bloodbourne or whatever even if they dont have the game, thats %ucking awesome!!!!

Spacedelete...

I know you wish u had something like shareplay! lol stop the trolling man just sign into plex from your web browser, it works then wait for the dlna implementation.

MasterCornholio3472d ago

"I know you wish u had something like shareplay!"

They had something similar called the family share plan but Microsoft axed it along with their DRM policies.

Like I said before each console has features that the other doesn't have. Xbox One can stream movies while the PS4 will be able to stream playable games.

Nothing wrong with prefering one over the other but dont bash either feature since they are both good.

HiddenMission3472d ago

What do you mean stream movies...like I buy a movie and someone who isn't at my home can watch what I'm watching in my home?

If that's it I don't get the point? Is it intended for those that refuse to buy the movie themselves and you just happen to not want to share a physical movie? Are you an all digital buyer?

I just don't see who a feature like that is aimed at...

As for Shareplay I can see exactly who that is aimed at...gamers. If a gamers on the fence they can ask a buddy to let them try so no money has to be spent on a rental or a purchase until after you know if you like the game or not. Want to play with a friend who doesn't own the game not a problem now.

One feature just seems to have an actual audience but that's just my take on the subject and I could be way off here.

KataklysmiCv23472d ago

technically the xbone do have something similar to share-play it's called gold sharing

Tutorial:
Method 1: It's very simple and the better method, find a friend (mutual trust is needed as you must share account information), have him set his Xbox One as your Home Xbox. You then set your Xbox One as his Home Xbox. This can be done in the settings, and then scrolling to the bottom where it says 'Set as My Home Xbox.' You are now sharing games.

Explanation:
The way that game sharing works is that it takes advantage of the Dual License that comes with each purchase of a Digital Game. If I buy a game, I get an Xbox License for my Home Xbox and a User License for my Gamertag.

When I set my Home Xbox to a friends Xbox One, he then gets the Xbox License for as long as that is my Home Xbox. He can then play all the games I purchase because the Xbox License allows all people to play games on my Home Xbox (his Xbox One). I then can play games using the User License on an away system, one that isn't my Home Xbox (my Xbox One). You are taking advantage of the Dual License. So if he makes your Xbox One his Home Xbox, you effectively use all 4 licenses and it allows you to share games.

Game sharing works best when only you use your Xbox One and your friend only uses his otherwise there will be some games other accounts on your Xbox One can't play. You can play everything on your Xbox One (yours and his purchases) but other accounts can only play your friends purchases (because you have his Xbox License). They can't play anything you buy (because he has your Xbox License and you have only the User License). This applies for accounts on your friends Xbox One.

Problem with this is You can only set your Home Xbox 3 times per year

And yes you can both play the same game online at the same time :P

The_Troll_Whisperer3472d ago

@Kat

What if the next day your friend has a big fight with you and you guys break up? He'd have all your information. and Youd be up the creek without a paddle...

Share play is better, as you dont need to share any information, just invite someone to share the game, they accept, and they can stream the game. That easy. And you can do it with anyone you want.

KataklysmiCv23472d ago

Don't get me wrong share play is by far better. i was just pointing out that xbone has a familiar thing and about your friend knowing your information wont be possible lets say you & your friend ends up having a big fight if he tries to log on your Gamertag/Account he will be stopped by a passcode :P if he doesn't know the pass he cant get in.
