We Should Be Worried about Final Fantasy XV after That TGS Trailer

Well, I honestly can't seem to understand how the game works with such limited footage, but I think it looks close to Kingdom Hearts, and I also receive vibes from Xenoblade, because of the really huge world and the similarity in environments. It could be a very awesome game if well done.

I agree. Like I say in the article, I don't necessarily dislike the direction they are going in but right now it doesn't look that impressive to me and I'm worried that it's going to feel like a game that started development in 2006. I hope I'm wrong and it winds up being fantastic.

I don't know much about the gameplay, I agree with most people, it looks a lot like Kingdom Hearts.

I'm more into the story and characters, that's what makes Final Fantasy games for me, FF13 had decent gameplay but I didn't care about the story or characters.

From this trailer, it gave me the impression, it has more to do with a romance cause the main guy seems to be on a trip to get to some girl, which they show, and then we see him starring at the moon. I know it's just a trailer but these things look like a good sign that the story will be romantic and intriguing like the good Final Fantasy games, FF7 with Cloud and Aerith, and why her death was so sad. FFX, Tidus and Yuna, and how tragic it was that Yuna's Journey to stop sin for 10 years would also mean her sacrifice. This is really what makes Final Fantasy games for me, even more than the combat.

This is my first time seeing this since I missed TGS love -_-

But wow SE met my expectations on this one. The only thing I can nit pick about is the car looks meh and the foliage looks average. It's supposed to be "clunky" because it's supposed to be open world. This a major improvement from FFXIII. This is more than Night and Day improvement actually. Makes FFXIII look like a PS2 game.

it was meant to be different from the other FFs, Nomura's version. I believe he stated he wanted to do something a little darker and different, with a unique combat engine.

As for the gameplay, maybe it's just me, but I didn't think it looked "stiff."

The animations seemed unique and depending on the movement of player and enemies around him they seemed fairly dynamic.

i think the point of this article was to point out the slow pace the action feels like. i cant be sure but the older videos seem to have a faster pace action, but that could be the editing techniqques tat made it seem faster.

True. I don't like 13 and never will, but that one looks interesting. I have seen people making jokes because there is a car. 7 and 8 had cars and from the trailer frankly it looks like they might go more back to the roots. I'm certainly interested to see more.

For those who do not know, FFXV (Originally VS XIII) Was intended to be made using the kingdom hearts style of gameplay mechanics. This was made clear many years ago.

This is earlier 'weaker' noctis than the two trailers last year. Nomura said it'd speed up later. Also, in the gameplay trailer last year Noctis used firaga and teleported every other second with general combos.

Personally, I use reviews to influence my desirability towards how much interest I have in a game. GTAV got great reviews and I will eventually play it, but it's not on the top of my list of games to play.

It's a FF spin-off with a name change, clunky combat, and characters that look like they were ripped from some JPOP boyband. This looks even worse than FF13. Considering how slow this game looks they should just call it Final Fantasy 15 frames per second.

Atleast it seems it's doing the action rpg right. I love that the enemies actually react to impact when you hit them, rather than just walking around regularly as you're doing super moves to them. It seems like it can end up being very good. I never liked the look of the characters though, dressed in all black like some emo kids. I'm loving the visuals, seemingly huge open-world and well done real-time combat so far though. I'd like to see how far the engine could go visually if it was a PS4 exclusive though, but whatever.

I'm not worried for graphics. It looks awesome.

But i'm a bit cautious for gameplay. The combat looks good but it a bit slower from the previous trailer. Also, i still don't know why they're not showing interaction with NPC, towns, or mini games. A couple things that i hated from FF XIII are in towns we didn't interact with NPC and it lacks mini games. I hope SE release more info about that.

Seems like their usual push for graphics, while the rest is average. This is going to be the deathblow for Final Fantasy, but the fanatics will gobble this up like always. You could use another name for this game, and it wouldn't even make a difference.

I can definitely see Tales of ____ being the better game, if this is the route Squeenix is going for.

4 Cool-Kids-Club Asian Teenagers, dressed in all-black high-fashion threads, are driving an all-black, suped-up version of the Cadillac Ciel Concept through what seems to be an open world envoronment, fighting soldiers and dragons/dinosaurs/monsters with mystical weapons and god-like melee fighting skills and tag-team moves. Oh yeah, the graphics ain't too shabby, either.

Yeah, the trailer tells us very little about what to expect beyond the surface. Unless you're a fan of the direction SE has taken Final Fantasy thus far, I see no reason to give them the benefit of the doubt at this point.

You know, Final Fantasy XIII gets a lot of crap, yet it took some pretty big risks and ended up with what many consider the best battle system in the entire franchise. To me, that makes the gameplay [mostly] great, linearity withstanding. I actually liked XIII, but a lot of the hate comes from the stagnated Final Fantasy VII gamers who can't give up on a remake or that game. Seriously, let it go. The story was great, but XIII kicks its butt gameplay-wise. The hate isn't warranted in my opinion.

That all being said, my concerns for Final Fantasy XV are that it's not going to have its own identity. Again, XIII gets so much hate and yet it's so distinct with impressive gameplay. XV as of now *looks* like a Kingdom Hearts/Platinum game hybrid. I'm not exactly saying that's bad because I love Kingdom Hearts (and Platinum's titles and Final Fantasy). I also like peanut butter and jelly, but I don't keep them in a jar together because that forces me to experience both every time I want to eat it.

That is a fact. Tell me, what exactly makes XIIIs battle system inferior to the others? I thought Square did well in making a unique and awesome combat system. But if you think XVs painfully safe real time system that only seems next gen in visuals so far, have fun with that.

Mostly agree. The "metrosexual" look has been around since Final Fantasy VII, so this isn't exactly news. The sports car does feel pretty off, but Noctis seems to be some kind of royalty (or has some kind of wealth), so I guess it makes some sense.

Where I TOTALLY agree is the lack of dark theme. I really liked what they were going for before because it was different. That is something the early Final Fantasy titles on PSOne did very well. Final Fantasy X was overall lighthearted, as was XIII.

Of course, it could just be that we aren't seeing any of it now but we will eventually. I'm just glad that Square is being more prolific with information regarding the game, which likely means it will come out in this lifetime.
