I'm conflicted. On one hand, I enjoy the sarcastic emblem, but on the other hand, I was hoping for something really special or at least something that I could wear in addition to the CE stuff. =\

JoeIsMad3570d ago

I think that the badge is pretty much what you could expect. That or a Ghost skin, which is less prominent. Unless they let you keep something from within the Beta and you could get boosted into the game, which is already possible with their Vanguard promise, there wasn't much more they would be able to give us.

admiralvic3570d ago

"Ghost skin"

One of the biggest things Bungie hyped with the special editions was the fact that ghost was red and giving out a skin like that would diminish that. Anyway I was personally hoping for a cloak or something that doesn't have stats, but lets you stand out and could have some unique design.

JoeIsMad3570d ago

Given how many slots there are for your Ghost, I think that the skins are going to be more prominent than they appear. You're right that a Titan mark or whatever would be great, but the show off swag for Warlocks suck. It's a tiny arm band and it's pretty hard to see from far away, so I like this prize better.

If u look very closely it says: I played the destiny beta and all i got was this crapy emblem

johnnynitross3570d ago

I'm just glad that the moon story is opening up. Something new to explore.

Been playing a few hours. My expectation were low so I wasn't hyped but my expectation weren't even met as low as they were. But now when I compare it to halo it is a lot better 1. they finally have modern graphics(the halo games were a tad behind) 2: it's an rpg. But in saying that the rpg elements are not great, the open world feels linear, but it is a step over halo even with those things.

Things that would have made it great: split screen, some type of space travel(control spaceship to other planets), more options, more unique weapons. All in all in feels like borderlands without it's charm and instead a slap of halo which in my opinion makes it worst then borderlands especially if I a next gen version comes out

Here to cheers to bungee on their first rpg but they still have plenty to learn. If they learn and make a destiny 2 I might give it a buy. But until then this one can definitely pass

admiralvic3569d ago

You have to remember it's the beta and it's only suppose to give you a taste / idea of what to expect as you're suppose to give them feedback to improve the game.

"some type of space travel"

I imagine that would get old fast.

"more options, more unique weapons. All in all in feels like borderlands without it's charm"

I don't know if you either never played Borderlands or forgot it, but Borderlands starts off VERY BLAND with many boring looking weapons and minimal variety. It wasn't until around the midway point that you start to get more of the elemental weapons and unique guns, with all the most interesting things being restricted to specific bosses / enemies and you probably won't see them until post game. So it's in NO WAY fair or logical to comment on Destiny's variety at this point.

"But until then this one can definitely pass"

I won't try to change your mind anymore, but I still think you should consider looking into it if you like the idea. I think you were expecting way too much from the beta and naturally it couldn't live up to expectations like giving you all the options or some of the more interesting and awesome guns in a version of the game that basically takes place in the first hour of gameplay.

LAWSON723569d ago (Edited 3569d ago )

Sounds like you like Halo a game this is nothing like really except maybe the same weight/gravity feel. IMO gunplay feels much more along the lines of Borderlands and CoD. Also I sure hope a open world game does open world better than Halo because Halo is not a open world game. Talk about bias... and judging the final product before playing the real game, keep it classy

IQUITN4G3569d ago

Not surprisingly the combat is excellent but mandatory online only aspect rules me out. Shame as I would have very much bought into this even for just a single player experience

lonelyplayer3569d ago

The beta gets old quickly. Very linear

Destiny Made Over $160 Million In Microtransaction Revenue In Less Than 2 Years

Destiny has made over $160 million in MTX revenue, and these numbers only account the data from late 2017 to early 2019.

Sgt_Slaughter340d ago

That's extremely low for microtransactions, especially for a game that's essentially designed around it

LucasRuinedChildhood340d ago (Edited 340d ago )

This was back when the game wasn't free to play.

The figures are from November 2017 to February 2019 (1 year and 4 months).

Based on that projection, the MTX revenue for Destiny 2 likely would have been closer to ~$240m for 2 years.

Not sure if premium expansions are included in that figure either although ... I'd hope that they are though and that most of the revenue was for actual content like Forsaken.

People spend way too much money on cosmetics.

Rude-ro340d ago (Edited 340d ago )

Seasons($10 and just got bumped to $12) and dungeon keys($10 each, two a year) are through the eververse(micro transaction) store.
So for those two years, in order to play a season, you would pay through micro transactions.

Sonic1881340d ago (Edited 340d ago )

Bungie Marathon will be worse since it's designed around it as well

Kurt Russell339d ago

It makes me sad to agree... but at the same time I am looking forward to giving it a go. Destiny 2 is so far in, I find it difficult to figure out what I am meant to do first.

buffig340d ago

I think FIFA alone makes over $1bn a year from mtx

anast340d ago

FIFA promotes a worldwide sport. It should make more money than destiny.

CantThinkOfAUsername340d ago (Edited 340d ago )

Let's compare something similar. Apex Legends and its ridiculous $18/$40 skins make EA a billion each year.

z2g340d ago

For as much as ppl complain how much they hate microtransactions, they sure don’t act like it. No wonder they aren’t going anywhere.

spicelicka340d ago

By "people" you're referring to millions and millions of people. Obviously the ones complaining aren't necessarily the same as the ones spending all that money.

There's millions that purchase MTX and there's nothing we can do about it

I've been thinking about playing through D1 again before it goes away...

CobraKai491d ago

That’s the sad reality of a game like this. I bought it, invested lots of money, and it can go away at anytime. I still think this was more fun than 2.

jeromeface490d ago

prob because 2 is a grindfest slog

spoonard487d ago

That's the bummer of 'games as a service'.
