Is it wrong to want it all? I want Folders, Notifications, Full personal media support including mp3, dnla streaming and access to play from cloud clients in the way that One Cloud supports. Full Keyboard and mouse support for browser and flash.

Themes and an means to produce them using a simple template. Pausable downloads.

A built in PSOne and PS2 emulator for disc based media.
AUDIO CD support.
Google+ sharing and Drive cloud support.

Do we have video chat like PS3? Put that in there as well.

And... for Majin-vegeta, I would like to requesr external HDD support.

Honestly if they just add DLNA i will be completely satisfied, it was a big let down that it wasn't part of the ps4. I don't blame sony I should have researched it further, I just assumed since the ps3 had it then the ps4 should as well.

3D is very common in modern TVs.. 4k TVs have just come out so they're much rarer.

I don't use 3D that often myself because it's just not good enough at the moment but I'm glad that the support for it is finally coming. This is something you'd expect Sony product to have...

I personally think Sony had this 3D update all finished and ready to go. But was holding off to include it in this suppose 1.8 media update around Gamecom time with a few other things included.

I think with MS announcing it. Sony just decided to put it into a minor update and get it out before MS does.

I wish this had come out earlier, it's unfortunate that it took Microsoft adding 3D Blu-ray support to the Xbox One to force Sony to do it with the PS4. The PS3's had 3D Blu-ray for what, 3 years?

We all know this is coming because xbox is getting it and all the complaints about the last update just being stability again. They are giving this as a valium lol. So we can relax a little while they finish their big update. Originally this would have been in the next big update but they need to keep up with Microsoft and chill a few people out after the other day. Still I'm very happy to have this finally. Been waiting since day one. Hoping this will get people talking about 3d a little more and then we might get some more good 3d games like Trine.

Snipe Elite 3 can be played in 3D.

I believe PS3 3d bluray was 720p at 30fps - People will be in for a treat if PS4 can do 1080p at 60fps.

Happy for the 3d blu ray playback, even though i don't use it for Films. The blu ray quality is well down form the PS3's. it's one of the things that i was incredibly disappointed with.

I have the bluray remote for the PS3 which is very nice to use since it also controls my tv. If they release one for the PS4 I may switch over to using it for my media needs.

You know, I'm a big fan of the Playstation brand and all but...this just seems suspiciously "convenient". Like...SONY suits came into a meeting this morning and the conversation went like this:

Suit #1: "Hey, we're getting a bit of negative press about our updates vs Xbox One's updates."
Suit #2: "So, it's time for 3D playback. Let's put that out to the twittersphere ASAP."
Suit #3: "How about DLNA/CD playback/download management?"
Suit #2: "Take it easy! This is a game of Chess, we'll match our opponent blow for blow, so we don't look like we're any worse. Don't give the gamers EVERYTHING, just enough to keep them wanting more..."

Agree, so reactive. Sometimes it seems as if Sony is content to do the bare minimum for firmware updates, as if they do a cost benefit analysis on everything. Media support, pausing downloads, changing of PSN ids and friend notifications etc, where are they? You know the updates that people really want.

Well at least it proves Sony is actually listening to what people are saying and have changed-back in early ps3 days theres no way they could/would react so fast. Unless this had been planned for months and had just been going to be stealth released and this is all a coimcidence. My thunking is it was to be part of gamescom firmware announcement but the complaining means its coming earlier with rest still to follow.

I'm guessing this was in their 1.8 release that's rumored for next month, and when MS beat them too it, they pushed it up to this release.

Sony seems to take their time to get things working, I just don't see how they could have added 3D support in the past two days and have it QA'd and ready for next week. It had to have already been in the works.

I hope MS comes out with an update to sort their games, play MP3s, have custom backgrounds and soundtracks, and DLNA. This way Sony can try and beat them with those too! Oh, and visualizers... Want those also. I really should go jump on MS forums and ask for these since Sony seems so slow

You would be hard pressed to find any Sony device that isn't DNLA compatible, after all Sony did create it. And it's always used as a strong selling point. Strange that one of their flagship devices doesn't come with it from the get go, wouldn't you agree? Sony need to get their finger out not just with features, but games too!
