The main issue I have is trying to load the PSN Store after playing Uncharted 4. It just never loads, but use the quick fix above and voila.

Well it depends on what you mean like icons loading slow and scrolling through games is slow as the games take time to pop up?

actually there are a few things that affect menu lag, but one main thing people don't know about is your theme... Try this, go to the playstation store and download and install the Payday 2 theme, do a search on the game and then scroll down to the theme, it's a theme that is very low on system response, -- now see how fast your menu is loading..

its really interesting how a theme can affect menu response.. I did this and menu has been super fast ever since, it's worth a try.

Well, it is a system software update, not a game update although all updates download in the background so you hardly know it is downloading and even when the update has downloaded you still have the option of when to install it.

Actually started the installation about 15 minutes ago and have just rebooted. So far no problems. The only inconvenience was when I had to reboot which took just over a minute. I mean that is hardly enough time to grab a cold one out of the fridge or a quick toilet break much less boil the jug for your favorite poison. 🙂

i use to poke and tease about the stability updates on playstation... but i do welcome them overall...
my ps4 pro felt "off" when navigating through menus (even the browser felt off)...like some sort of slight stutter.
hopefully this update takes care of that...

Umm I used to have that problem a couple years ago. Now my browser is used everyday with no problem watching youtube and such. I'm not sure what caused the Ram issue at the time

Watching anime on the PS4 browser should be fine if the anime is using the 8bit H264 codec but if the codec is HEVC or H265 (proprietary) and possibly 10bit or 12bit you may have an issue. You should be able to watch Youtube videos though.

Note: The PS4 video player is also limited in what it can play since many codecs are proprietary and by supporting other formats Sony could be sued by the companies holding those patents.

I just tried this in Chrome on my PC and HEVC 10bit H265 does not work although I don't have any problems with VLC and MPV which work with just about all codecs be it 8bit, 10bit or 12bit.

BTW. My PC does not run a Microsoft operating system but you can get VLC and MPV for a PC running Microsoft Windows.

If VLC and other media players have the right to support HEVC/H265 (and H264 and all the others that came before), I can't think of any good reason why Sony wouldn't have the right to support it also.
Doesn't the Xbox One support HEVC/H265 codecs? I don't know, I'm just asking.
Anyway, Sony and MS should've since long replaced their media player with VLC, which is by far the best one, and available for free, just like they should've replaced their internet browser with Google Chrome, also the best one in its category. I don't understand what could be so hard in doing that and why we have to wait forever for whatever to happen, it's insane how incompetent those twats are, dammit. These should've been here from the get-go.

I had a heart attack this morning from this update. I tried turning my system on (Pro version), and an error appeared asking me to reinstall the OS 4.70. So I tried turning the system back on (just in case), and it was all black with the "See user information..." but it wouldn't load. So I unplugged the system from the power, held the power button for 10 seconds (to drain the power stored into the system), re-seated the SSD I have (Samsung Evo 850), and the system restarted with the "please power down your system correctly" message. Then the system loaded normally. Just in case I backed up all my saves to the cloud. I checked notifications to see what messages I was sent from the night before, and it says "Unable to install update 4.71." So I did a cancel/delete, and from the menu installed it from there. From there it installed and loaded fine. I'm currently online and everything seems OK. So to recap just in case:

Re-seat the HDD
Hold the power button for 10 seconds
Only plug in the HDMI and Power cable at start

Just in case other people have issues, this is the short version of what worked for me.

Sorry, I call BS on that. While I don't have a PS4pro but I do have a PS4 with a 7200 rpm HDD which I installed myself and if you need to reseat your storage then you should have screwed it in correctly. As for removing and reconnecting the HDMI and power cable you have got to be joking, that's like saying you need to give your TV a bash when you have a problem getting a signal.

All electronics over time store power in their capacitors, and over time they need to be disconnected every so often (and their power drained) otherwise it can cause problems down the road. I learned this both in college and working for HP doing tech support for almost 6 years. As far as re-seating the HDD it doesn't mean it wasn't screwed in correctly, sometimes parts can get loose (not from dropping but normal movement like cleaning an area, or rearranging) and just need to be reconnected correctly.

Apparently you calling "BS" just means you lack basic troubleshooting steps to solve electronic problems. All I did was provide a service to help those who had a similar problem, and I already get down voted and a troll response.

And for those who scream "what about phones and/or tablets that can't replace batteries?" once every couple of months drain the battery to where it won't boot up at all, then charge it.

What do you mean by "re-seat the HDD"? If you mean to remove it, it wipes out all your data stored on it and you then have to reinstall all your games and everything after reinstalling it I believe. When you take into consideration the fact that all the games are entirely installed on the HDD this gen (for w/e reason), and they weigh anywhere between 30-60+ GB, err... :(

I pulled the HDD out, made sure the screws were tight, ran a can of air just in case, and plugged it back in. If you swap the HDD (meaning you put a new/different one in) yes that does wipe data. What I did doesn't.

I have a Pro and I'm not sure if anyone else experiences this but at least a few times the signal will drop out briefly for a few seconds. Anyone else ran into this and know a fix? I've swapped out HDMI cables but that isn't it... been hoping an update would fix it.

It's a really early Visio 4K tv. There's no HDR.

Have you tried the other ports to see if it does the same thing? I wonder just in case the port itself is bad, or a bad cable. If it does it all around it could be the TV needs a new firmware update. If one isn't available try a different TV and see what happens. If it doesn't on the other TV then it's your Visio; if it does it could be something in the PS4 Pro itself whether it's a setting or something else all together.

I have that problem. Found that reducing the HDMI lead (to as short as possible between PS and TV) reduces it, but still happens occasionally...

I suspect the updates contain a lot more than Sony are saying. It could be security patches but they won't tell you that because it might give hackers/crackers vital clues to how the OS works.

If you tell the world you patching a security hole then crackers won't update their PS4, instead they will look for the hole and exploit it.
