No It wouldn't. Most people don't own a PC that will out perform the Scorpio. If I were to play sadow of war on my pc, I can't even get 1080p at 60fps let alone 4K.

I think I remember Phil Spencer clarifying that not EVERY game in the future will be Xbox Play Anywhere/brought to PC after it sounded like that was the case. Pretty sure the wording indicated that Xbox will get exclusives and PC/W10 will get exclusives on top of what they're doing already with XPA.

That's probably referring to smaller titles. No doubt that all of their big AAA releases will release on both Xbox/Win10.

That concept is completely foreign to the mind of a fanboy. They simply can't comprehend that someone can love gaming in general outside of just cheerleading one brand. It's impossible for them to understand that even if you have a preference it doesn't mean you have to hate the other platforms.

I was sceptical at first, and still have my 'shields up' as MS is notorious for making promises they can't or won't keep, but if even half if what I hear about the scorp is true, ms fans are in for a treat.

And it'll make sure sony doesn't get complacent with the PS5 in a few years. It's a win-win for everyone.

The kicker is they are not just working hard to make this a very developer friendly console to attract more and better quality games, but they also included an UHDBR drive so gamers could use the console for UHD disc based media. The only thing they could do to really make things better is dip into their back catalog of IP's and bring back some of the franchises we haven't seen in a long time.

Considering some of the 1st party games coming this year are new IP, it invalidate's your statement. Sea of Thieves, State of Decay, & Crackdown 3, that is a promising lineup that I'm looking forward to seeing. I enjoy multiplayer games over single player, so these 3 games are more exciting for me compared to Sony's exclusives. It's just my opinion.

Considering Scorpio is as powerful or greater than a GTX 1070 and has greater performance than probably 95% of PC gaming rigs I don't think the claim is far off. If it comes in under $499 (I say it'll be $399) then they will have a very good launch.

Where are you pulling this price and performance info from? From the Forza demo? A RX 480 can run Forza Apex at 4k/60fps (there are videos on youtube if you don't believe it). That's a $200 GPU.

A little bit of perspective, the cheapest 1070 in Australia is around $530 and the most expensive close to $700. Add all the other components needed to make a console - $399 is a stretch. I think even $499 is a stretch, $549 is probably closer.

That's not how this works. Pro maybe, but the scorpio is far more capable.
Developers just have to get their game to work on both, MS isn't forcing them to hit specific targets.

You're looking at this the wrong way. Right now, games coming out on the x1 are striving to hit the highest benchmark to compete with the ps4. When the scorpio drops, they won't have to do that.

They can take a lot out of the x1 version in order to meet the requirement. Remember, Phil only said the game has to "play" on all systems. He did not say they have reach a certain benchmark. Also, they are not mandating scorpio games hit 4k. Nothing is stopping these developers from making a super good looking game in 1080 or 2k that has everything you want.

-Uhm, that's not necessarily true. In traditional sense it may have been the case but even then it was just because devs didnt want to burn extra resources....NOW, Microsoft has said they designed development tools specifically so that devs could use the full potential of Scorpio then those tools would make it very easy to SCALE DOWN for Xbox One, in other words make the game you want, then port it to Xbox One, which will lower things like res, textures, and other graphical effects= not hard to believe when you consider this has been done for pc >> console games forever. Seriously the whole "system A is holding system X back" has always been developer dependent, most developed for the lowest common denominator because it's cheaper then putting in the time and resources in getting the full potential out of multiple platforms. If Microsoft is correct they say they have made that VERY easy for devs....which actually is not hard to believe since we are talking about 2 very similar hardware architectures with Scorpio just being more powerful.

Largely the reason I haven considered upgrading to either. At least with Scorpio you'll have guaranteed support via backwards compatibility with the next gen XB. I expect Sony will do the same too mind you.

Although personally £3-500 for 3-4 years is still good value for money in my eyes (realise I just contradicted myself).

There is no more generations. They are full fledged in the PC route. Their games will state in the future what minimum Xbox is required to play this game. Like system requirements on pc games. That's why now all the multi's supposedly will be leaps better on Scorpio vs the ps family of consoles.

if you are having to make the game playable on lesser hardware, you are going to be making sacrifices to the overall game. becuase at the end of the day, it still needs to be able to run off the what the Xbox one has, and if it doesn't, then spencer will be lying again by saying no one gets left behind

Goldby, Your intentional twisting words brother. U know exactly what's meant by the comment. The future of both companies is a new upgraded console at the least every 3 years. They may keep the moniker of mid gen upgrade by Sony but MS has blatantly said generations for them is of the last. Which at a certain point ms will change what lowest common denominator the devs use for development. The console was designed with the developers in mind to make games as easy to port as possible.

the issue Armyntt is that you are basing the console on the idea its just like a PC when it isn't. it may work like a pc but it isn't a PC. its a console at the end of the day, we cant swap parts out of our console so why are you basing the idea of end of generation based on the PC.

if a system can no longer support a game because it cannot be upgraded, then that generation is over.
if a system can no longer support a game because the user is choosing not to upgrade components of it, that isn't generation.

Hhhmm.. the worlds can still be HUGE on both platforms. Have you even played Witcher 3? Nothing will be compromised on the Scorpio version of the game because it will be made on that first. Developers already have Scorpio Dev Kits and are working on games now. All XB1 and XBox 360 B/C games will get boost when they run on Scorpio without even being patched. If a game is suppose to be 60fps, but has been running at 45-50fps on XB1 or XBox 360, when it hits the Scorpio it will run at 60fps. Do some research before making false accusations.

Any version of the games coming out is going to be an "OK" version when compared to the scorpio regardless of what they do.

Maybe they rely on upscaling so they can have as big of a world as the scorpio version. Maybe they checkerboard it. There's a lot of tricks they can do.

Funny thing is though, the ps4 and x1 both don't offer that big of differences when it comes to world size etc. in games compared to the 360 and ps3. Yet nobody is complaining about that.
