Rumor: Price of Nintendo Development Kits Leak Online

We have long known that development kits are not all that cheap to come by, but a developer who has broken his NDA has taken to Twitter with a screenshot of Nintendo’s development kit order kit. Unfortunately, we don’t really know which code names represent which console, but prices for development kits and their licenses range anywhere from $700 to $3800.

Guys real deal on this news is different. Dev kits like the almost same machine before release to customers. Those dev kits have 4GB and 8GB model. We knows one thing fore sure. Dev kits usualy has more ram than actuall game console or the same level ram! So my guess Nintendo NX has 8GB ram. This is big news if i wasn`t wrong because we almost know NX memory size. And one more thing it`s little big expensive for X86 dev kits! I think they going to different architecture!

(ESL guy here sorry for English.)

In 2016, if something doesn't have 8GB of ram at least, it's garbage.

Ahem...
He did mention that those are Wii U devkits and not for NX...

I miss that my friend. Means i'm not right but thanks :)

That's even more worrying as dev kits usually have more memory than the actual product so that you can run debuggers and profilers. They show a 4Gb and 8Gb model, I think that might point to the NX having 4Gb, with the 8Gb model being for those needing the extra memory for development tools.

"one more thing it`s little big expensive for X86 dev kits! I think they going to different architecture!" God, I seriously hope not.

We really don't need that right now.

I like what I'm hearing so far, but x86 would be some welcome news, like Day 1 buy news.

Wow, is this a good sign that this console could be amazing?

R00bot2836d ago

Nope. These are Wii U and 3DS dev kits lol.

Well that sucks, got excited for nothing.

This is your last chance in the console market Nintendo. Screw it again and you will be totally irrelevant. Stop looking for a lucky shot and make an actual and proper console for God sake. Where the heck is Metroid? A proper mature Metroid game? I am not touching your systems until you pay some respect to Metroid.

Sirk7x2836d ago (Edited 2836d ago )

There's a few reasons we haven't seen a new Metroid game in awhile. Most of the leaders that worked on the Prime series (head director, lead art designer and head programmer) have left Retro. Also, the Metroid series, although universally acclaimed, isn't really a fantastic selling series. Unless it's side-scrolling, the costs may not justify the resources necessary to create what fans are expecting of the series. I'd imagine Nintendo has assembled a small team to start work on Metroid game concepts for the NX though. It would have been a waste to spend the time developing it for the Wii U, and a new title would definitely add appeal to the NX lineup.

Proper this, proper that...
I'm sure you had nothing to do with Pokémon GO's success and yet I guess Nintendo is still somehow irrelevant. People and their self importance these days! What if the NX isn't everything that you want it to be and still manages to be a success, does that take anything from Nintendo because you don't like it? Buy something else and stop complaining
