Rumor: Price of Nintendo Development Kits Leak Online

We have long known that development kits are not all that cheap to come by, but a developer who has broken his NDA has taken to Twitter with a screenshot of Nintendo’s development kit order kit. Unfortunately, we don’t really know which code names represent which console, but prices for development kits and their licenses range anywhere from $700 to $3800.

Guys real deal on this news is different. Dev kits like the almost same machine before release to customers. Those dev kits have 4GB and 8GB model. We knows one thing fore sure. Dev kits usualy has more ram than actuall game console or the same level ram! So my guess Nintendo NX has 8GB ram. This is big news if i wasn`t wrong because we almost know NX memory size. And one more thing it`s little big expensive for X86 dev kits! I think they going to different architecture!

That's even more worrying as dev kits usually have more memory than the actual product so that you can run debuggers and profilers. They show a 4Gb and 8Gb model, I think that might point to the NX having 4Gb, with the 8Gb model being for those needing the extra memory for development tools.

There's a few reasons we haven't seen a new Metroid game in awhile. Most of the leaders that worked on the Prime series (head director, lead art designer and head programmer) have left Retro. Also, the Metroid series, although universally acclaimed, isn't really a fantastic selling series. Unless it's side-scrolling, the costs may not justify the resources necessary to create what fans are expecting of the series. I'd imagine Nintendo has assembled a small team to start work on Metroid game concepts for the NX though. It would have been a waste to spend the time developing it for the Wii U, and a new title would definitely add appeal to the NX lineup.

Reading his tweets, I don't think this guy will ever get a dev kit from anyone.

He admits he broke Apple NDA, this NDA, says he doesn't care and guarantees he won't be penalised.

Another dev told him had he taken the opportunity to speak to Nintendo they could have given it for free, but this guy is just being a class A douche.

Wii U kits for a cool 10 grand. Dev kits are always hefty prices. This is pretty cheap compared to some esp the PS3 which was 20 grand. 360 kits were 10 grand as well.

I was reading the tweet thread with the arguing back n forth with the users and this so called dev, and there's a lot of growing up to do still, which makes question the credibility of this story and post.
The Dev then goes on to type that these were for the WiiU and 3ds, not sure if he was being facetious at this point.

* This is a development tool for a company....It's not going to be cheap, regardless of the industry you are in.

Some people just don't comprehend reality....like they live in their own bubble and can't comprehend when something doesn't fit their idea of how things should be.
