Final Fantasy XV on PC? Hold Your Horses; You Won’t Read it on a Website’s Source Code

Today it was reported on NeoGAF that source code in a Javascript file in the website of Final Fantasy XV’s March Event included mentions of PC and Steam.

Unfortunately, recycled Javascripyt code really isn't any indication of a PC release, or of anything at all.

Well, considering the Plethora of Final Fantasy games that came on PC lately.

I wouldn't put this one out of the question. In fact, i guarantee you that we will see this game one or two years from its initial release date.

I reckon a few months after release, like Type-0. X/X-2 HD were leaked in December, so the only mainline games not on PC would be I, II and XII. I would say it's all but certain.

3rd party titles should always have a PC version (unless it's a paid exclusive).

Every main Final Fantasy game is on Steam with the exception of X, X-2 and XII, and the HD versions of the former two are rumored to be coming soon. I'd say XII hasn't been released on Steam yet because SE are prepping a HD version and would rather release that on Steam rather than the current version.

So, I wouldn't at all be surprised if XV was released on Steam eventually. Couldn't be too hard to do either, given that it's being developed on a PC. My only worry is that it will be buggy at first, sort of like XIII was, and like MGSV was.

I've always thought Final Fantasy XV would hit Steam, but I wouldn't hold my breath for X or XII.

The initial "leak" that FFX HD was coming was from March last year, and again in a leaks list in December that also said Danganronpa and Half-Life 3... yeeeahh, that's a little farfetched.

If Type-0 HD came to PC then there should be no reason for any other FF game not to come to PC.

Its just like FFVII Remake, FFXV will come to console first and later on for PC.

Type-0, XV, VII remake, and Kingdom Hearts III are multiplats, though. X and XII are not.

Ff7 was exclusive and it has a pc port already, dangarompa was also confirmed to be getting a pc release soon too by the devs.

Final Fantasy VII HAD a PC port in the nineties. It was a console exclusive.

Danganronpa is on the upcoming games list on Steam.

Danganronpa 1 and 2 is already coming soon, almost every game leaked on that December list is already confirmed for a PC release.

Meanwhile, everybody ignores how Half-Life 3 was in the same leaks list. Is THAT confirmed too?

I don't even game on pc and I want jrpg makers to release on pc. They usually don't make as much money as they should for their hard work and anything to boost their sales/profit would be nice for them. Aside from compromising quality and localization (my own self interest here).

If they're finally getting 9 on PC, I don't see why they wouldn't continue on with the tradition. I think 12 is the only one not on PC now aside from 15. And I bet 12 is next.

I assume 15 will come out on PC, but likely a year later or so.

SE and Sony want consoles to succeed so im not surprised just like FF7:R if it was first on consoles than PC a year done the road.

Already on the way, the list that leaked a while back had both on there and Damn near every single game on that list has appeared on Steam.

It's probably not going to and if it does it will likely be within a 5-10 year period after release.

Reason I say this is because Final Fantasy XV; just like XIII, is planned to be a reoccurring title. They want to use the foundation they've built from this game to continue making other games to expand on the story and lore of XV.

They wouldn't waste manpower and resources on trying to port the games to PC one by one while beginning work on a fresh variant of the newer game.

XIII not too long ago got ported so the series is on PC in it's entirety, but it was well after the series has concluded.

The FF7 Remake could be different, but I doubt it since Sony has timed console exclusivity and Square didn't acknowledge PC as one of the other platforms (i.e. Capcom with Street Fighter V) it will likely just be more of a waiting game on the PC side of things as usual.

No they won't, FFXV is supposed to be a single installment. That's why Tabata changed Nomura's original story. Nomura wanted it to be multipart.

FF 15 will be sooner or later without a doubt on PC. Square and a lot of other Japanese Publisher puts lately almost all notable japanese games on the PC and it is amazing that they do it. There are very litte reasons to own consoles anymore you can play almost everything on 1 platform, on the PC like it should be.

It would not make much difference to those that stopped supporting square enix, same goes for ea, ubisoft and wb. They are losing a lot of gamers recently and will only get worse for them...
