Microsoft Executive On No Man's Sky, Games At E3 And The Controversial Xbox One Parity Clause

No Man's Sky is one of the most anticipated indie games of 2015. Scheduled to launch on PlayStation 4 and PC sometime this year, the game will not be coming on the Xbox One.

Yeah..You're speaking my language bro! In the end we (xbox,PC or PS4) all get to enjoy these games at some point. The two titles are comparable in certain aspects. As for me. I just love my space games. Ill be playing elite AND no mans sky this year, which is cool.

The game IS coming to XB1 and it will happen within weeks if not months of a PC release. And it will be a port of the PC version. Remember I said this. Bookmark this comment if you like. But mark my word...its coming to X1.

I think it will as well. I have no problem with games being timed exclusive. There are quite a few pros for doing so. Indy games in general it tends to get them *ALOT* of media attention which is hard for them to do at times with out a publisher paying/backing them. As long as it comes out on other platforms later a lot of people win. Some will say the gamer's don't but why? Because you have to wait? In the end its the best hybrid way of doing things now days. As in the best balance between the business itself and what the consumers get.

Elite Dangerous and Space engineers are guaranteed timed games.

So logically No Man's Sky will release on X1 in the future.

I am not sure if elite dangerous makes it to consoles. and. bloody space engineers still in early access. The damn developer is making another early access title called.medieval engineers. So the chances of these games on console are rather slim; however, killing floor 2 will make it to PS4 along with Among the sleep, and distance.

well what I can say is that, usually if a game is truly exclusive, companies and execs know. They usually keep this to themselves and let the company announce when it will release. But what from what I understand, it's not an exclusive is truly up to hello games. If they want the game on xbox one, not sony. So unless they buy the ip or the company, xbox fans may see it hit the xbox one later. But in the meantime elite dangerous will be timed exclusive, which should hold it down for fans of the space shooter genre.

I like this site (n4g) because it allows me to get almost all my gaming info in one spot, but damn I hate some of the sites that flood this one with garbage articles and the sensational headlines.

"Mindblowing, Earth Shattering, Fantastic!!! AND MORE!!!"...then you click on the article and its a single tweet that some clown somehow turned into half a paragraph spread out on 9 pages of speculation and "take this with a grain of salt" BS. Or the classic move of writing 20 articles a day on the same game instead of putting all that info in a single article.

I wonder if Devs can get past this by releasing a game on xbox with a new character or ship then once it is on the console can they later offer that item as free dlc on PlayStation console. I guess they would have to sign something that says this item will never be released on another platform.

Sure ...I would also imagine it depends on "what" it is. Shovel Knights is including the Battle Toads as a boss...that will only be in the X1 version. I believe the Sony version has Kratos if I am not mistaken. That content would never go to either competitor.

Why not? Lots of devs have exclusive content, like the exclusive missions in Assassin's Creed. It could be skins, weapons, armor, vehicles, or whatever. Nothing major is necessary.

No Man's Sky could eventually end up on Xbox One at the end of the exclusivity period with Sony. Joe Danger debuted on PS3 and ended up on the 360 more than a year later with extra content. NMS may have a similar exclusivity period.

I will need to see more. Exploring looks fun, but will there be planets with cultures, are there any story elements beyond basic side mission type stuff.

Considering Hello Games other game came to Xbox 360 and it was stated as a PS3 exclusive too.

Not to mention it's coming to PC also. Not to mention no one has flat out aid from ether Sony or Hello Games that No Man's Sky will never appear on another console...at least nothing I have read.

Sony doesn't own the IP and they didn't fund the game (I don't ink again), no doubt that it will appear on Xbox One later.

Either way, this game will only be truly enjoyable on newer, higher end PCs...

Consoles simply do not have the computational power to generate the scenes procedurally, fast enough to fully eliminate object "pop-in".

Just check out the trailers revealed at the Playstation experience. Pop-in is INTENSE, and kind of breaks the mood.

All that being said, this looks like the single most incredible / amazing / (insert powerful adjective) project to happen to video games since the invention of the wheel :). Whatever equipment console is required to play it... I WILL BUY IT!

Games like this don't sell on Xbox consoles.
First the Xbox One has half the install base as the PS4.

Second the under 12 million XboxOne install base are majority the hardcore FPS Halo and COD fans.

Games like No Mans Sky are better off releasing on PS4 and PC.

Indie games will launch on what ever platform their developers want it to launch on. partnerships may be in place to secure it on a platform for a period of time, but ultimately independent developers if they own the ip, they can bring the game to what ever platform they want. In rare cases do Indie IPs big or small stay exclusive to one platform, if the platform holder declares console exclusive ie Ori or Transistor then it'll pop up on another console in the future. Im not sure if the verbiage Sony has amused suggests that No Man's Sky is console exclusive to PS4, but I'm sure they are trumpet ing that they have it first.

Needless to say this is still one game I'm hugely skeptical about. It's one of those games I have to try out before I can pass a verdict.
