and, with this Sony gains some PR...

Gazondaily3371d ago

They have already confirmed the game is in development.

Honestly, I think the reason why the trademark was dropped in the first place was because the game halted production on the PS3.

Mark my words here. The Last Guardian is now coming out on PS4, hence the delay. And that to be honest, is great news. Well imo anyway. A next gen version of this game would be MIND BLOWING.

Saigon3371d ago (Edited 3371d ago )

Honestly I do not believe that. This clearly shows that it was an oversight. And if you are looking for someone to point a finger at blame the person who had nothing to do and decided to look up game registrations.

Also as far as the PR stream from various websites, it's not Sony's fault people can't get over the littlest things about the Order. I guess the next issue about the Order will be how it was packaged.

ShugaCane3371d ago

How about they abandon that trademark and come up with something new. At this point, the hype, the expectations, the wait, will KILL the game named The Last Guardian. They should change it. Keep the spirit of the game, but package it differently so that it no longer looks like something dying that they're trying to bring back to life, over and over.

iamnsuperman3371d ago (Edited 3371d ago )

I don't think a name change would matter at this point. It has been so long that there is no hype without some decent footage to go with it. Hence why Sony has said they will relaunch it again. They know the hype will come from what they show and the developers prestige and not a release date for The Last Guardian

ShugaCane3371d ago

Yeah but you see, Ico and SotC were not hyped at all prior to their release and look at the HUGE impact they had on the gaming industry. All I'm saying is, hype is dangerous even with the pedigree of Team Ico. The made two masterpieces and I hope TLG will be their third one. I just want people not to bash the game because it didn't met their 10 years expecations.

But I'm sure the game will turn out spectacular anyway.

princejb1343371d ago

i agree
i lost interest in this game a long time go

thereapersson3371d ago

Then you were never really a fan of the game to begin with. If you're a fanboy of Team ICO like I am, you are still following every tidbit of information about this game as though it's the first time you ever heard about the title.

princejb1343370d ago

@thereapersson

how can i be a fan of a game i havent played?
in my opinion team ico is a ok unique developer
shadow of colossus was awesome but ico was boring

iceman063371d ago

Or, they could just show it when it's ready to be shown and blow away the fans of Team ICO games. That would pretty much do it. They have a really dedicated group who has been waiting (albeit far too long) for the next thing from the dev team. Plus, they are pretty well respected in the media with both ICO and SoTC. As soon as it's shown again, whenever that it, the hype and buzz will return.

Hipp03371d ago

Part of me fears that it's been hyped so much and for so long that even if it ever releases that it won't live up to any expectations we have.

Jdoki3371d ago (Edited 3371d ago )

Your comment is interesting as it really sums up the changes in gamers attitudes.

Neither ICO or Colossus got hype or buzz before or even immediately after release. Those who played ICO and loved it looked forward to Colossus but expectations never got out of hand. We knew Team ICO was small, and ICO had it's faults so we expected something interesting from the team, but no one was going batshit crazy.

And yet, we are in a situation where a dev who hasn't produced anything in a decade and only two games in 14 years is being hyped to a degree where it couldn't possibly meet some people's expectations. And we know nothing about the game.

Ridiculous hype has the potential to strangle games before they are even launched.

Hipp03371d ago

I agree, hype can really ruin games. There are so many games that I wonder whether I would have enjoyed them more if I had read nothing about them before playing.

Why o why3371d ago

I believe its closer to eagerly anticipation than hype for the simple reason that we've seen nothing in terms of real gameplay. Hype can definitely strangle so I fully agree but I believe people are longing for the world and creative vision team ico can bring more than actual gaming mechanics. I'm glad the project isn't dead.

PaleMoonDeath3371d ago

Thought so, man people needn't worry that much about this game, it's like a secret weapon at this point and with all the money gone into development either way this game is going to be huge.

Fear not, Shadow and Ico were mad good, this little gem will differ not.

I've played 15, and I wouldn't consider any of those underrated TBH. Some of them are pretty high rated.

banger88152d ago

That's amazing, Gamingbolt actually put all 15 games on the same page.

shinoff2183151d ago

I. Not seeing anything on that list underrated. I never played concrete genie, the ASTRO vr,and one other but I forgot the name already. Nothing on there was underrated at all imo.

persona4chie151d ago

There’s only 4 of those games I never played, and no most of those aren’t underrated.

The Last Guardian Is One of Gaming’s Most Beautiful Depictions of Friendship

Friendship is hard to depict accurately, but The Last Guardian does a good job of showing all its ups and downs through Trico and the boy.

Technical issues aside, this is easily one of my favorite games from last gen.

ClayRules2012836d ago (Edited 836d ago )

I couldn’t agree more. I’ll never forget the emotional experience I had with this game. After waiting all those years, and than to finally play it. It was a visual beauty, along with offering a story/friendship between the 2 characters that was unique and unforgettable. Far surpassed my expectations. A masterpiece!

Technical issues aside, never have I played anything quite like it!

Magog836d ago

I enjoyed the game but it started out too simple and easy. If the entire game was as intense and challenging as the last 20% it would have been a 10/10 experience.

EvertonFC836d ago

Great game, so underrated. One of my favourites and top 20 games of all time

Phoenix76836d ago

I managed to grab the collectors edition for £40 about a year after it released. Was an enjoyable game, but I had just finished Shadow of the colossus, and whilst I enjoyed it, it was not as good when compared.
