You’ll be surprised how few gamers actually finished Alien: Isolation – Was the game too well made?

Alien: Isolation is a fantastic game. Creative Assembly managed to craft such an atmospheric and believable environment onboard Nostromo that actually might be too tense and unbearable. The claustrophobic interiors of the iconic mining vessel together with the constant threat from the xenomorph and androids will make you truly terrified at times.

It was a combination of how anxiety inducing it was, along with just how lengthy the campaign is. It's a pretty dang long game, and it gets really tense and hard near the end!

This, Batman, and South Park were all amazing licensed games. I certainly think it's the best Alien game ever made. It nailed the Alien itself, regardless of what people think about any other aspect of the game. That thing is unpredictable and aggressive. Just as it should be...

The Game is loooong, maybe even too long. But that's a testament to how persistent the sense of tension is. Great game. I completed it the first time round. I'm hoping for a price cut in the Season Pass so I cqn play some of the challenge rooms and other levels.

I'm not sure I'd play the campaign again though...

Yeah some levels it was heart pumping suspense for about an hour with me, I had to get by a group of enemies and I couldn't, I would start, they would counter, I would go back somewhere else. Never have I felt so cornered in my life, trapped in a vent between two things that want to kill me with no recognisable AI path.

Easily my game of the year for 2014, more than got my money worth. It took me around 2 months to complete for numerous reasons. 1. I played on the hardest setting 2. It's damn long! 3. I'd have rest periods off 2 or 3 days instead of playing it to death like I do most other games. This was mostly because it's so draining playing the game (its that immersive and involving!), because you constantly have a sense of fear lingering whilst playing haha

The length of game hurt it for me. I felt that the second half, when the Working Joe's are running around took forever. Plus the last mission of the game was just kind of "meh" for me.

I know this game pulled a lot of its source material from the director's cuts of the movie, but the whole multiple xeno part really hurt the story for me.

1- You have to crouch most of the time.
2- You can't kill the weird bold robot until you have the stunning gun.
3- The story is a bit lame.
4- You can't do anything directly there most be something wrong to fix.

Actually, you should try to move uncrouched as much as possible; the longer you're in an area, the more the Alien will zero in on you. Save crouching for when you know there's a threat, and running for that last-ditch chance when you know you're spotted and *maybe* you can get to that door...

I finished the game and I don't think I will play it again.

I remember if I walk without crouching the Alien or the robot finds me in no time and attack me cause they hears my foot's step.

I almost didn't finish this game after encountering a game-breaking bug at the start of Chapter 16 where you are dropped in a random area with no objective. I had to replay all of Chapter 15 again and I was lucky to be able to finish the game. Hopefully they have patched that issue by now because it didn't seem too uncommon when searching online for help.

Nevertheless, I still had a ton of fun with this game, one of my best gaming experiences of last year. I don't agree with the complaints about the save system either. I loved having to seek out save stations and manually save. It added a lot of tension, desperately trying to survive to the next save point. It can be frustrating to have to replay a section, especially in a slow-pased survival horror game where you are often waiting around and taking things slowly, but actually having something to lose from death (rather than resetting 10 seconds to the last checkpoint) made every action, every step that much more intense.

I ran into an almost game breaking bug a few hours from the end as well. Every time that I looked up at the ceiling or close to it, it was just white light. I couldn't see where the vents were or anything.

Where you had to get into the AI core to talk with the ships AI (mother ? I dont remember). Those raincoat working joes were nearly unstoppable and they crammed like 8-10 of those in that small area. I think the problem is the reason why I haven't picked it up. Same reason I don't play Outlast which I got for free. I don't mind stealth but I can't stomach a game with little combat. Pure hide and seek only holds my interest for a half hour to an hour max. To those who can... great. I'll just watch someone stream this instead.

The game wasn't that hard IMO, usually when I play SP games I chill and dont try to chalenge my skills and play games on easy difficulty but I knew AI would require alot of attention, concentration and good nerves so I think I played it through on normal difficulty. I got stuck only on a handful of parts and the game started playing properly once I got over my pointless closet camping tactics (after realizing that quick/a bit careless movement was more efficient).

I blame it all on the tension and scare factor (maybe some people also got too frustrated after they realized that the Alien was unkillable) + game lenght. Some say the game was 20h long, it took me a little over 30h to pass the game (but only a mere 30min for the crew expandable DLC)

Just wanted to say I'm proud to announce me and my fiance both completed this game. It's actually pretty easy as long as you take your time and don't make too much noise.

Also on a side note, I just managed to beat the evil within which is one crazy hard game even on casual mode.

"Spoilers" After completing it, I unlocked a new difficulty mode, automatic machine gun, rocket launcher, 50,000 gel points and character model viewer.

Both were amazing games and incredibly rewarding.

I played EW on the hardest difficulty and it was awesome! Apparently I took 24 hours to complete it. I liked taking my time and scavenging. Wanted to enjoy every bit of it as I crouched my way to the end. Watching people's playthroughs of it is weird how they just run through levels. How is that fun? Don't you want suspense from a horror game as such? Judging by some saying it took 20 hours to finish Alien I think I'll have a blast. It's a damn good game but it really is either too long or at the very least the pacing screws itself in the last few hours. I think I'm almost finally finished now (though I've thought that multiple times already) and I know it sounds dumb to complain about getting too much content but it's a symptom of games overtaking movies as the dominant form of entertainment that they really need to be crafted with the concerns in mind that a movie usually is.

We all know how a movie could be too long. If a movie with quite a shallow plot is over four hours long most people complain. It would be odd to see somebody consider it a good thing because you got 'more for your money'. We all know there's a sort of natural pace a story should find and stick to and just as it would be ridiculous if you were watching Return of the Jedi and during the final eWock party the Empire attacked, lead by Darth Vader who was seemingly still alive, then the movie launched into another two hours of action, it's pretty ridiculous to go through the many false endings and big final seeming encounters of this game only to have it keep going and going.

Ive done it 3 times and got totally stuck on nightmare mode,but not due to the alien.....im stuck where you have to power up the reactor and at the same time face off against 5 workin joes that all wear orange suits,you know the ones that can take up to 5 shotgun shells to kill.....oh yeah and all i got is 2 shells......had 100s of goes at it and thrown in the towel....just to frustrating...

I love the Alien universe, but didn't buy the game and here's why:

It didn't seem to play fair.

To me, games are supposed to reward when you when you figure out the rules and make correct decisions accordingly. However, A:I seems to be set up so that even if you do everything right, you can (and will) still die. There's too much randomness, too much left to chance. I look for a skill curve in games that empowers me and enables me to take control of the world around me. "Move-duck-pray" is not my idea of a good time. Idk, maybe it's just too much of a real life simulator for me.

As an avid trophy hunter, this isn’t that surprising. Most games only have a small percentage of the total number actually complete them, the number above would also be even smaller due to those who either didn’t play online or never synced their trophies.

I remember only last year a few developers revealed how little the amount of players who actually complete the entire game actually was, so in this case for a game that was mainly criticised for how long it actually was, this isn’t that surprising.
