Microsoft Can’t Fix Its Halo: Master Chief Collection Fail

For Adam McGuire, the hype surrounding Halo: The Master Chief Collection couldn’t have been higher. McGuire, a 33-year-old project engineer from Grand Haven, Michigan, saw it as a way to revisit his favorite game series, and rekindle a romance that started more than a decade before with Halo: Combat Evolved.

Anybody with such a disastrous launch would have a problem fixing it

It's working just fine, I was just playing it earlier. what is this?

mxguy933410d ago

It's crazy how xbox's flagship franchise managed to have issues like this. Especially for this long

True_Samurai3410d ago

The game has been working for a few weeks now. Don't know why this guy thinks it's still not working the mp was the only problem and it has been fine for quite a while

Mega243410d ago

Just like Driveclub has been working for more then a month now, fanboys make a big deal over stuff like this. Just ignore it and keep playing, it's not like they are playing it themselves.

Toiletsteak3410d ago

Anyways to get them clicks, i was one of the lucky one's that only had a problem now and then but like you said it has been working perfect for a while now.

AKissFromDaddy3410d ago (Edited 3410d ago )

@True_Samurai There are plenty of recent YouTube videos, like within six days, where Halo MCC is still broken for people. In addition, there are videos of people playing Halo 5, which works great, commentating how Halo MCC still needs online patches for its multiplayer.

You can't use your personal experience or the ones in your bubble as the universal or majority standard, in my opinion.

In my opinion, 343 likely assumed they could patch the game afterwards but it's exceptionally worse than they thought or advertised.

I hope I didn't offend you because that is never my intention.

ger23963410d ago

So you know 100% that it's been working fine for every single person?

d0x3603410d ago

Does anything work for 100% of the people? No but the MCC match making issues affected maybe 20% of players at launch and now its maybe 5% at best. Perhaps if people knew how to properly configure a home network it wouldn't be an issue but some people love them a $20 Walmart router and then wonder why they have issues.

Fault tolerance in a game can only be so high until it starts destroying the functionality for normal people.

But the damage has already been done.

All_Consoles3410d ago

I'll take ODST and a month of live as compensation for two weeks of no multiplayer in a month of heavily stacked games

VforVideogames3410d ago (Edited 3410d ago )

I just try it right before I post this and I'm sorry to say that it has NOT been fix yet I was waiting for 30+ min to get into big team battle and I decided to just turn it off. I a m so f r e a k I n' piss. 343i can get halo odst and shovel it up their @$$$.

jcole973410d ago

So that means the damage has already been done with driveclub too then eh? or is it ok because they gave it a weather update which was supposed to be there on launch day?

gangsta_red3410d ago

Yes it does, played all weekend long. You should actually try playing MCC and you'll see.

secretcode3410d ago

Considering how much I played in the last week with zero issues? Yes. It does.

No_Limit3410d ago

I play it almost every day and it is fine forth e past 2 weeks now after the updates. If you are an xb1 owners and have the game, then you should already know.

Tedakin3410d ago

At least the Halo 5 beta was perfect so far. I think they have the A team on Halo 5 and the W team on the MCC.

kstap333410d ago

I only managed to connect to one halo 5 match. Not sure what you mean by perfect beta. I wasn't surprised or angry considering the beta tag and all.

Farmassy3410d ago

You only got to play one halo 5 match? That sucks. The beta was so much fun. I played so many hours of it. I did run into a "could not connect to server" type error on sunday morning though. Other than that, I was able to play nonstop all weekend.

Just wait until the 29th. The game is awesome

Tedakin3410d ago

Worked perfectly for me anyway.

LAWSON723410d ago

Worked almost flawlessly except for some reason waiting for another game after intermission sometimes got stuck. I was in lobbies in seconds.

hollabox3410d ago (Edited 3410d ago )

I really don't know what the heck people are talking about. I've had Halo MC since launch, only one day I couldn't connect, with a couple of days taking a long time to join a game(10 mins or so). I've had more issues with single player slow down (especially Halo 4) than MP match making issues. Issues mentioned in this article was the same with BF4, Call of Duty, and heck probably about half of all FPS games across all platforms.

With that said, I think Plants Vs. Zombies is probably the best FPS MP game I've own in a long time. I have on both XB1, and PC ($12 on sale) to play with all of my friends depending on the day.

kstap333410d ago

PvZ is third person shooter, but I agree, its tons of fun. I think titanfall is my favourite at the moment.

christian hour3410d ago

Got PVZ thanks to EA giving it away for PSX.

And I couldnt agree more! It's amazing! I dismissed it initially because I just saw it as a pointless cash in on yet another curiously popular tower defence flash game franchise.

I ate my words down with a nice pint of "we showed you" on the side. Game is fun as hell!

Good to hear some people are having problem free sessions with MCC, the 4 times I visited my friend who got an XB1 just for it, I got to play for like 5 minutes, broke my heart :( I'll have to pay his house a visit in the new year and try again :D

Cutting Room Floor

343:

We have a special treat for you this month.

Something that becomes part of the great journey of many Halo fans is learning about all the stuff that didn’t make it into the games over the years.

When ambitious and talented developers are up against the challenges posed by limited time and resources, having to make tough decisions about what best serves the final product, many things end up in the horrifying tenth circle of Hell which Dante deemed too terrifying to tell us about: the cutting room floor.

I am so hyped for this bring halo 3,4, and 5 cut content too.

LordoftheCritics658d ago (Edited 658d ago )

2 years each dev time.

Add another 2 for co-op cut content.

Noskypeno658d ago

The stuff cut from halo 3 is like a game in itself. I would like to see the level that the map Guardian was based off of, make it next Gen only with the slipspace engine from 2018.

XiNatsuDragnel658d ago

That would be awesome Halo 3 cut edition would be fire

aaronaton658d ago

"When ambitious and talented developers are up against the challenges posed by limited time and resources"

Literally nothing in that sentence is anyway relatable to 343i.
