Uncharted Movie Dated for June 10th 2016

Very little has been said about the Uncharted film, nothing good anyway. The rights were sold years ago and a lot of people have been attached to the project, although nothing seems to have ever come of it. Obviously Sony are still working on it behind the scenes though, because they today announced a release date for the film.

This has the potential to make a good movie if done right, too many games have tried and failed in the movie stakes, hope uncharted bucks that trend.

I'll withhold my enthusiasm for now until we start seeing some actual trailers. These video game movies seem to have a habit of never getting off the ground. How many false starts has this movie made already, I've lost count.

I really do think that the movie will harm the franchise. I don't know why people have such high hopes for this one.

I cant really see it harming the franchise even if it did fail, but if it does well it could certainly increase uncharted's exposure

The Max Payne movie harmed the video game Franchise. I heard a lot of people saying they didn't purchase Max Payne because of the movie.

I'm just hoping for the best and Naughty Dog is involved with the direction of the movie.

Game movies always suck, for gamers.

Examples. Tomb Raider was total balls, my dad loved it because he fancies Angelina Jolie and never played the games. Hitman, another load of crap my parents enjoy for some reason. Max Payne...Im not even going to go there.

Silent Hill was an okay movie, but didn't do the games justice at all. Resident Evil, somewhat fun action flick but again doesn't add to the franchise at all IMO.

I can't wait for this Picture. Game films are hard to make because you have to filter up to 16 hours into 2/2:30 hours. Just like an adapted screenplay, game adaptation screenplays are twice as hard to write than original screenplays.

Drake will be played by someone realistic enough to be cast like Bradley Cooper, Chris Pratt or even Shia Lebeouf (Maybe Jack Reynor, he was in Transformers after all and was fantastic in The Delivery Man) but there are still so many people recommending aged actors such as Nathan Fillion or random TV actors that aren't recognised by more than a few people because they just "look like them." The have to be actors with a steady career path, not internet sensations like Nathan Fillion or Bruce Campbell.

My cast:

Drake - Jack Reynor
Sully - Victor Garber (I hope to God it's him)
Elena - Elizabeth Olsen
The Villain - Rutger Hauer would be a nice choice

I don't want the setting to be primarily in the jungle, i like the Bournes and the modern Bond Films so make it an international project, like Uncharted 2 was.

Seth Gordon is a good choice to direct because he has had an ok run with Comedy and a beginners run with action, if he takes what he has learned and combines it with his love of Video Games, we may have something special, keep the film score and i'll throw my money at you.

The problem lies in that a video game is a position of being a person in a situation and being completely immersed in their actions because you control everything and decide how things proceed. A movie works by having you follow a character as THEY do things. The making of a movie directly removes the interactive nature of the video game narrative.

I hate to say this. But. Be prepared for disappointment. But. If Nathan is a psychotic killer in a Rambo-esque fashion then we are all in for a cult classic. It will either be this or Romancing the Stone. Your call

Hollywood will as per usual totally fu.k this up, their choice of director is terrible, he, much like the last chump wants to branch off and do his own thing. It would not surprise me in the least if he casts Jason Bateman as Drake and he sets the entire film in say Chicago.

Sony have control over this, if they grew a pair of balls they could hand this over to Welsh director Gareth Evans, who could use his stunt crew and film an action packed pirate tale in Indonesia, perhaps casting an unheard of actor in the lead role. Sony have worked with Evans on The Raid movies.

In Hollywood and Seth Gordon's hands this film will be mediocre turd at best.
