The 3DS Will Successfully Carry Nintendo Until The NX's Release

It was a mere few months ago that the gaming industry was mocking Nintendo for having almost next to nothing releasing until March 2017, when the Nintendo NX is almost confirmed to be releasing.

I think the 3ds has been carrying Nintendo for a while now. I don't think even the Nx will bring back the system to its mighty days. I think Nintendo's handheld is the bomb.

InTheZoneAC2789d ago (Edited 2789d ago )

Nintendo is going forward with the NX and abandoning the 3DS once it does release. They want everyone to be part of the same ecosystem and not separated.

I actually like the idea as long as the physical button layout doesn't feel like a cheap afterthought. And hopefully they make it to where it's cross buy compatible, meaning my 3ds games can be downloaded and played on it for free, if they do go the route of dropping support for the 3ds.

Dunban672789d ago

if you are right then that means the NX will be delayed significantly- Most of the games they announced for the 3DS are for 2107

RosweeSon2789d ago

If that was the case why were some of the bigger games set for Feb/March. Nintendo have always had 2 systems on the go they not just gonna drop 3ds like Sony did Vita sure they may stop supporting it so much as the new year goes on but it's got legs for another 12-18 months easily.

PhoenixUp2789d ago

Things look mediocre on the console front for the rest of the year though. Even Vita seems to have a better holiday lineup this year than Wii U.

DiscoMan2789d ago

Nintendo knows their handheld front is strong, which is why I believe there is truth to the console/handheld hybrid rumors of the NX.

ZeekQuattro2789d ago

I think part of the reason Nintendo merged their handheld and console divisions was to do some sort of hybrid console at some point. Well that and making communication between teams easier.

Summons752789d ago

Plus with Smash WiiU/3DS compatibility and using the 3DS as a controller now all the Wii/WiiU ports 3ds is getting, it's pretty clear they are testing the waters for something bigger.

kneon2789d ago

Is it actually that strong still? Have there been any sales data from recent big game releases that show people are still playing them?

It wasn't long ago that you'd see someone with a Nintendo handheld pretty much every day, now I don't think I've seen one being used even once this year.

Warshade2789d ago

3DS is a very uncomfortable gaming experience even with a grip. I really wish I had a way to play the games with a real controller on my TV because some of the games are pretty great but the small screen and horrible design make me not want the system. I have owned the original and an XL and both hurt my hands during any semi long gaming session.

Games wise the system is very diverse but I see its graphical limitations really hurting it soon. It's getting to the point where smart phones make the system look bad. I hope nintendos NX service makes it possible for me to enjoy some of these great games in a more appealing manner.

Brandnewfan6102789d ago

I actually feel the 2ds feels better on the hands.

Elvfam5112789d ago

Im actually going to buy an 3ds one day because there's some game I want to play.

RosweeSon2789d ago

I've had one since launch and I still got games to play ;)
