This whole resolution thing has to be sorted out sooner rather than later. Don't hold the technology back I say. If my TV can output a picture in color, no amount of spin will convince me why I have to watch my movies in black and white.

PC can output a much higher resolution than concoles, so develop the PC games for 1440 resolution or whatever. Push the technology to it's limits, don't gimp it because of the lowest denominator. If the Wii U can only handle 720p, then let the Wii U version be 720p - don't gimp all the version just because of the weakest link (I know it's not announced for Wii U, but you get my point).

Forget parity - I didn't buy a next-gen console so that I would have parity with last gen consoles FFS!!!

SaveFerris3482d ago

What if the movie is "Casablanca" or "The Artist"?

I agree with your other points btw.

I'd like multi-platform developers to push for the best results on all platforms, providing they don't have delay one version over another or overspend.

LOGICWINS3482d ago (Edited 3482d ago )

"I'd like multi-platform developers to push for the best results on all platforms"

As do I. But here's the issue. What if after 2-4 years of hard work, devs make the decision to make the game in question 900p/30fps on both platforms because they GENUINELY(without any pushback from anyone) believe that resolution/fps achieves their vision better than 1080p/60fps?

Even IF devs give what in their opinion are the "best results", there will still be ignoramuses that will say something was held back simply because its not 1080p/60fps.

1080p/60fps may not make sense for EVERY situation! Why aren't people on this site bitching about The Order being 30fps despite not meeting the "supposed next-gen standard" of 60fps?

If people are going to claim that 1080p/60fps is the standard for this gen, then be CONSISTENT with that claim.

"I think, to be honest, you know, we want to be generous with the players. We're all gamers, right? As devs we also play games, we know what we want to do.

So what we try to do is, without getting into the specifics, we just try to make sure that we are playing in a way that feels buttery. And we're giving you the size of the game, we're giving you the resolution of the game that makes the most sense. So from our standpoint we are going to try to get the most out of each box. That's our goal, is just be generous with the player."

"It's one of those questions that's sort of tricky to answer because the reality is that each system is different. The architecture of each system is different. So for us, our goal is to make sure that we are running at the highest possible resolution per system. If it turns out that things are a little bit tweaked it's going to come down to less about resolution and more about can we get in all the enemy AI we want, and specifics, can we get it so every single encounter is exactly the same? We're still going to play with it, we're still going to figure out how to bring everything we can, and we are committed to giving the player everything that each box can give."

"Our goal is to make sure that the resolution is as high as it can be for each system and we're going to make it look great."

So there you have it. They are not shooting for parity. They are committed to making it look as best as possible on each platform.

I bought next gen console because I want to play games that were bigger, had better AI, more worlds to explore, longer campaigns, less loading, more social and interactive features, better online and multiplayer and new and more exciting games.

Maybe it's just me though.

LOGICWINS3482d ago

"We're gunna get the most that we can out of each box."

Bravo Dan Haye! Bravo!

But some people are determined to hate Ubisoft and they will ignore everything they say that contradicts what they want to believe.

Even when the games come out and it's proven that the PS4 version is superior to the Xbox One version and the PC version is superior to the PS4 version these complainers still won't admit that they were wrong.

They ignore all the evidence and latch onto one offhanded remark even though it wasn't clear in the first place.

Anyway, he flat out said that they are pushing each platform to get the most out of them possible and I predict that there won't be parity between the platforms. It will go like this: PC>PS4>XB1>360/PS3.

LOGICWINS3482d ago

Agreed. Some people will always find a reason to hate.

This game is very high on my buy list.

Played and enjoyed Far Cry, Far Cry 3 and 4 campaigns .

-Foxtrot43d ago

4 wasn’t so bad

Pagan Min was pretty entertaining

Skuletor42d ago

Yeah, 4 was good, was hard choosing which Golden Dawn member to side with, when they were both pieces of sh!t.
I've beaten all the main entries except 2 and 6, ended up uninstalling 6 to download something else instead.

Profchaos43d ago

I'd love a far cry pack with the original PC game (not the half assed port on ps360) instincts, predator even a port of far cry 2 to modern consoles back when these games had their own identity and weren't far cry 3 cut and pastel

Demetrius43d ago

Still one of my most favorite franchises along with assassins creed

banger8842d ago (Edited 42d ago )

Same here, I don't know why these games get so much hate. I've thoroughly enjoyed every single one of them, with only a couple of exceptions. I wish they'd hurry up and announce Far Cry 7. The only thing I'm concerned about is the rumoured time limit.

I would put 5 above 6 but agree with the other ratings. Though 6 has more refined gameplay compared to 5 it's lack of a compelling story really does hurt it imo but if you are a gameplay fiend and don't really care about story it makes sense.
