I've never purchased any Nintendo products but with rumors of a Switch Pro I was considering purchasing one and some older 4-player party games + controllers to have a few friends over. If Nintendo happens to read this, I'm now put off by a) purchasing old/weak hardware and b) discovering how much even older Switch games are being sold for. I purchased ~15 Steam Summer Sale games + DLC which is seemingly worth about 3 Switch games.

For me to buy, I'm waiting t...

Check out Portal Reloaded on Steam. It's free and the closest thing to Portal 3.

It all sounds like great news... except for the name. What can't they learn from previous confusion and community reactions to poor console naming choices? Or consider NFS Most Wanted "2012", or the Nvidia Titan "XP". If you don't name your product properly, the community will name it for you. I know I will be calling it FM8.

Quick question for subscribers: when a game is pulled from the store (no longer for sale), does it remain playable to you if you've played it before? This is a common occurrence for many driving games due to licensing vehicles and music. If not, then this would be a primary benefit to purchasing games.

I don't see a problem with Steam here - they may have a monopoly, but I don't feel locked in with them. When new games are released I can often choose whether or not to purchase them on Steam. I often do because games end up being cheaper there (on sale) and to keep most of my collection together (less of an issue now with the GOG Galaxy 2.0 launcher). However, if I suddenly disliked Steam, I have the choice to purchase PC games elsewhere for the most part. Windows Store, Epic Stor...

"At PlayStation, we’re constantly looking for new ways to enable players around the world to connect with one another, form new friendships and communities, and share fun experiences and lasting memories. "

Free cross-play for everyone confirmed? =)

That's not the issue (imo). Sony could have said no for those reasons and been within their right to do so. But they made weak excuses as to why it was impossible until one developer 'accidentally' enabled it and showed that there were no technical barriers. Then there's the nonsense about expensive licensing of steering wheels that aren't allowed to support both PS and XB despite costing more than the console itself.

"It would be desirable if a user could use an inexpensive... device as a video game peripheral,” the application reads." Great so Sony have changed their mind on preventing spare Dual Shock 4's from being used with PS5 games I assume.

Bring Gran Turismo to PC. I'm tied of Sony"s shonky licensing practices in relation to steering wheels. On PC I can use whatever controller I want, int for ultra wide display resolution, and free multiplayer.

It takes a big company with deep pockets (Epic) to sue another big company (Apple), to the benefit of all the smaller companies that you might sympathize with.

As for XCloud - where Apple's argument falls apart for me is the fact that these games are already rated by ESRB and the like - so Apple shouldn't have to review anything - it's very clearly the 30% greed game.

As for single console storefronts being the next target - this is (at least ...

Tim Sweeny is clever. Remember when Sony kept saying cross platform multiplayer was too hard and Tim 'accidentally' enabled it, proving them wrong... Now we have quite a few cross platform multiplayer games after Sony relaxed restrictions.

Instead of having a newly submitted app banned for vague reasons, if Tim has an already approved app suddenly removed for one single change regarding payment processing, it removes all doubt surrounding the anti competitive behavi...

On the PC side, RDNA2 at it's higher levels is rumoured to be in the range of 40-60% better than an nVidia 2080Ti, and may even out-perform the next gen nVidia 3xxx series cards if nVidia is stuck on Samsung 8nm and AMD has access to 7nm. (nVidia may go for loads of power and heat to stay competitive).

The next consoles were said to be around the performance level of a 2080Ti (perhaps with slightly better Ray Tracing chops) which is in lnie with previous comments about...

lol that is a good point. But you do have to hand it to MS, they have started walking the walk by being first console brand to promote cross-platform multiplayer, and buy making key console-sellers such as Forza available on Windows 10, and moving towards Xbox Game Pass streaming being available on a variety of platforms. I reckon they'd be cool with it being available on a PS5 (over Sony's dead body).

Even though PS5 has some exclusive games, I have a hard time r...

Even if you factory reset before claiming the game and linking it to your MS account, I doubt there would be any issue as the bundle info is likely stored server side based on the serial number of your console

You know how some arcade games add a "Hardcore" handling mode? Well pCARS 3 is doing the opposite. The simulation isn't going anywhere. There's just some casual options added on the side. Because those aspects are new and intended to get the biggest audience, it's being focused on by early marketing.

Sim racers are either too impatient to wait to find out more or worried about sharing their toys (multiplayer lobbies) with casual drivers.

The store and feature set doesn't bother me at all, my concerns remain:
* Installing software owned by Tencent doesn't sit well with me
* My friend list and messaging is primary on Steam
* I hate exclusivity deals, both here and from Sony. Let me choose where I buy games from and on what platform I want to play them. One positive from Epic is when they "accidentally" enabled cross-platform multiplayer and proved there was no technical excuse for ...

Why is there so much news on things that are only question or "if's". Wait for something to happen, then tell us about it.
And while we're at it, why is there so much concern over Sony v Microsoft still in the last lear of the current consoles being top-dog? Both have been very successful - that's great, let's leave it there. In other news, McDonalds sold 1.2million more burgers than KFC last month (maybe).
